Lol you just have to let people like him go. Everyone knows how unsuccessful the leafs are, and he's just very sad his team hasn't had any success in years

Not sustained by any means Defense wins championships. Can’t really do that when you really don’t have much of a defense.

I agree with you 100% that defence win championships. However, not sure how you can say that Reilly, Barrie, Muzzen, Dermott and the Sandman comming is not a quality defense. Just because the team was under performing under Babcock does not mean the Leafs defense was poor. You might have said the same thing last year when rumours were flying about the Blues trading off some of their defenceman after the team was in the bottom of the standings.

Your agrument makes no sense if you are comparing Doug Weight to Sheldon Keefe as a coach. Sheldon Keefe actually has over paid his dues as a coach in junior and AHL and is winning track record is off the charts. The other thing you are missing is the actual quality of the Leafs players that Keefe is now has to work with and the young players that will be moving up to the Leafs over the next few years. There is no comparision of the Islanders players under Doug Weight to the Leafs players under Sheldon Keefe.

You totally missed the point. Teams get a spark when there is a coaching change and it’s not uncommon (even bad teams) to go on winning streaks

Bruins in 5.

I watched the Bruins run out of gas last year in the Stanley Cup Final and realized that this is a tired hockey team whose best days are over. There is absolutely no chance that the Bruins could take out the Leafs in 5 games with the team being run by Keefe and in reality it will be the Leafs taking out the Bruins from now on. Mike Babcock is the main reason the Bruins took out Leafs in 7 game series the last 2 years.

I don’t care at this point. I’m so sick of certain Leafs fans and their smug attitudes and constant dismissal of objectivity. Enough already. I’m sure I speak for many. They can boot me if they want. I’ve said my peace

Numbers speak for themselves. Since Keefe has arrived, he increased the team PP% from 17 to 50%.

I see that they were underperforming but the Defense is rather giving up some bad looks.

Numbers speak for themselves. Since Keefe has arrived, he increases the percentage of daily Leafs posts from 17 to 50.

Another fine stat

1967 was a long time ago. I mean a basketball team won in Canada more recently haha. Idk if I can handle leaf fans if the actually win

You are partially correct in your statement in that you said IF instead of WHEN they actually win. You have to realize that the Leafs core of young player is still in early 20's and the team will not peak until Matthews, Marner and Nylander are all around say 26 years old and by that time alot of the other more successful team's core players will have moved past their primes which will give the Leafs a great chance at winning a few cups based on the players, drafting and development system that the Leafs have now assembled.

Based on the comments from this page alone I would have to agree. The best part is other Leafs fans asking him to stop.

So in less than a week the entire team learned a new system with flawlessly execution ?

Quoting: Capitalfail67
So he’s basically done nothing and you are just giving him credit? Looks like he got handed a really talented team that was frustrated with the prior coach and now they are playing hard bc someone that isn’t babs is coaching.

Pretty much this.......it was an obvious "riot" in the locker room, i m guessing drawn by "generational" player who wasnt babied enough, so the Team stopped playing ( witnessed two of those in my carrier also ). Now they are giving out what they should give all the time, tho losing streaks are happening to every Team.

I really hope not another 4 game one will hit TML ( didnt check the schedule )......who will they land as coach in panic then......

Your comment is 100% incorrect in that I have not been sad but very happy with the Leafs over the last 3 years in watching the team assemble a very talented group of younger players like Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kappan, Johnsson, Hyman, Mikheyev, Gauthier, Dermott and with Sandin, Liljegren, Korshkov, Robertson and Woll comming and with a great young hockey coach in Sheldon Keefe and one of the best younger GM's in Kyle Dubas and combined with Reilly, Muzzen, Barrie and Taveres puts the team in a great postion to really start to challenge for a Stanley Cup as the young players mature and start to enter their prime years.

The Leafs have the best fan base in the NHL and if you do not believe me come out to Vancouver and watch a Leafs game and you will note that over half of the fans are wearing Leafs sweathers.

Why not, they are 2 of the best goal scorers in the NHL. Not sure but I think Matthews goal scoring stats are equal to or better than McDavid.

While I am not a leafs fans by any means here is my opinion. I do not think that you had to fire Babcock in order to make the playoffs as I think the team was talented enough to figure it out with him. I haven't seen enough of Keefe's Leafs to say that his style fits them better but he has familiarity with almost half the roster and he's had success at all levels up until now. Generally a new coach gets a team off to a hot start but yes long term I think that this should work out for the Leafs. I am excited to see though what happens this year when they play Boston

I think you have no understanding of who Sheldon Keefe is? Do me a favour and google Sheldon Keefe coaching record to get up to speed with him and winning affect he has on hockey teams. The Leafs transformation is happening right in front of your eyes and you are still in the fog.

Come back in 10 games please

I'm a Keefe supporter, but maybe the results of the last two games has less to do with Keefe as Head Coach than the fact that Babcock is not longer Head Coach,
Babcock has been on my "get fired list" since April 2018. He couldn't manage a game, and as a result the players had lost all faith in him, themselves and the Leafs organization.
The players now have "hope", under their new coach......well at least for awhile.

It's kinda like. the players have a new girlfriend and they are trying to impress her, and the new girlfriend (Keefe) is trying to impress the new boyfriend (players). It's trying to maintain that spark through November to April and hopefully May and June. But the reality is you can't fake it forever....you are what you are.

The leafs got very close to blowing a 4-0 lead to an Avs team that has been extremely mediocre of late due to all the injuries. Perhaps they’re just the Leafs of last season under Keefe: score a ton, suck at defense, and lose in the first round to the Bruins.

They got chasing a couple of times but that is a left over of the Babs system. The defence is fine and now with a system that emphasizes a full 5 man unit in the defensive zone it's going to work.
