Those two players coming from leafs should mean that CGY retains on Hamonic. Maybe even half.

I really don't mind that trade for the Leafs, it does hurt to give up Kapanen and if you are, you have to be sure Hamonic is signing long-term.

I'd be more interested in a 3-way where we move Bennett somewhere else. Either for another D or somebody who can provide some more penalty kill expertise. Trying to find a fit in Vancouver for Troy Stetcher might be a stretch, or if the money works in Chicago for a Connor Murphy?

The CGY trade looks good but it needs some tweaking. Take out the 3rd and Calgary retains a little less as well as giving us Gillies and or a 4th and it's a mutually beneficial trade IMO.

As a Flames fan I can get on board with this one, for sure.

I do like Hamonic and I'm a little weary of what Barrie's been rumored to be asking for in terms of his next contract but overall this feels like a solid change of scenery trade for everyone involved.

Retaining salary is a little tricky for us since our cap situation isn't much better but we may be sellers this year anyway so who knows.
