Which is unfortunate for the Oilers cause he is not going to get moved for more imo.

You're the one that came calling, not Holland. The demand is there.

The demand is there at the price being offered here, but probably not for more. I don't blame Holland and the Oilers at all for playing hardball but I doubt he'll get them a 1st, just too many risks for the other side.

He's not asking for a 1st as far as I know. He'll definitely want a better prospect than McCarron though.

At the beginning of the season it was speculated that it would take 2 x 2nd round picks and MTL's offer is above that.
McCarron is a first rounrder and then the 2nd round pick in 2020. If Holland wants more then they can keep him. IMO

And I'll bet the habs want a better player than poolparty but he is available and should not break the bank... habs have some injuries so I think taking a short on poolparty right now could make sense but until he proves he isn't a bust he is a bust. Just curious but what exactly do you think the return on poolparty would be?

McCarron WAS a 1st rounder. He isn't worth that now.

Puljujarvi was a 4th overall. Are you saying he's worth that now? tears of joy

I understand Holland is asking for a decent young forward prospect + a 2nd. I'm not familiar with the Habs prospects, but maybe a guy like Ylönen would interest Holland.

I have seen speculated on other capfriendly exchanges that one of the problems with Poolparty, regardless of his potential, was that he didn,t understand enough English to playwell in North America. I have no idea if this is true or just gossip though. habs and a few other teams like the Canes have several Finnish players already that might help him integrate if he were ever traded.

Not sure you can read but Just like I said, that was where they were drafted regardless of where you may think they are at, at this point in their careers. cool
Neither player is making it with their respective teams, so if they've fallen in the depth charts then they could both use a change of scenery.

Your argument was that Montreal's offer was better than 2 x 2nd rounders because McCarron was a 1st rounder. That's wrong. McCarron is probably worth in the range of a 7th round pick today.

And your are saying that Poolparty is also worth more than he really is, he's not a first so that's wrong. Truth is we are both off as we don't really know. Just as your expert assumption that McCarron is more like a 7th but thanks for the effort sport.

I never said Puljujarvi is worth a 1st. But keep trying to move those goalposts, hulk.

We've now come full circle haven't we! McCarron drafted first round not worth that in a trade and a 2nd rounder for Poolboy drafted 1st round and not worth that now. Their worth is up for discussion among NHL scouts and execs. Thanks for the 5 word comment to start the convo with no explanation as to why, until you are pressed up against the ropes by a set of 24-inch pythons, brother! tears of joy

I know what Holland is asking for, and this isn't it. Sure, any player's value is "up for discussion", but within reason. This trade is much less than what Holland will accept for Puljujarvi. Period.

I'm not sure what your beef is exactly, you didn't make this thread and my first reply wasn't directed at you. Are you just so determined to show off your lack of intelligence?

So you are now the expert and must have spoken to Holland personally since you know exactly what he wants!
You try to make a statement that is so final that no one else can have a say just by adding period to the end of it.
Truth is you don't know and that's why it's up for discussion, even though you're wrong and won't admit it.
These comment are our own opinions so stop being so obtuse about the whole thing and grow up!

What are you, 12? What Holland is asking in return for Puljujarvi has been reported by media insiders several times, so we DO know what he wants.

https://oilersnation.com/2018/11/10/what-could-edmonton-oilers-expect-in-a-jesse-puljujarvi-trade/

It WAS known what the Oilers wanted in 2018 but he's done squat since and they won't get what they want which is the bases of this whole back and fourth. IMO they would better off getting anything they can when the time comes and unless he starts tearing it up in Finnland; (which he's not). His value is low and not getting better!

Puljujarvi is three years removed from his draft year and has played in 139 NHL games. In that span, he has produced 17 goals and 20 assists, that puts his points per game (ppg) at 0.26 at the NHL level.
Yakupov former first overall pick played in 252 games with the Oilers, posting a ppg of 0.44. When the Oilers dealt him, four years after his draft year, all they got in return was a low-end prospect in Zach Pochiro and a conditional third-round pick.

All this to say my original statement stands, Oilers can keep him.

Go ahead and have the last word or take another shot if you like; nobody cares, I don't feel like wasting anymore time with your comments!squinting with tongue out

Puljijarvi will just wait until he's 26 and sign openly with another team. Nobody is ever going to pay what Edmonton wants, and if they do, they shouldn't be a GM in the league.
