really? whats needed to be added? my assumption is they are getting a solid top 6 forward back, a defensemen who has clearly been improving and wouldbe a solid 2nd pairing, and the backup they desperately need/ potential starter

Actually an easy no from the Rangers...sure Nyllander is the best player in this deal...but while Buch - who is coming into his own- is a cut or two behind Nyllander- he's not far enough behind him to include all the additional pieces to this trade. ADA (admittedly deficient defensively) would be an offensive dynamo in that Leaf lineup. Rykov- while still unproven- still projects as a big bodied yet smooth skating 2nd pair defenseman. And Georgiev would be the perfect back up and eventual starting goalie for this Leafs team. In reality, ADA, Rykov, and Georgiev will probably be dealt- but the return the Rangers get will be far more substantial than the on ice performance difference between Buch and Nyllander plus Petan.
