Listen if Wayne Gretzky isn't untouchable, there isn't an single player in the NHL that is untouchable. "Untouchable" are more like you need to overpay to get them. Your entire thesis is basically like saying I’ll take your 5 break it down but I only have 4 ones so it’s a fair trade tho. Sure Gretzky was traded because he wasn’t gonna resign in LA he purely a rental at that point so really makes him less of a value player because he is on a rental.

I really don’t see anyone in the league as Untouchable.....that being said there are a lot of players who wouldn’t be moved because the expected return would seriously deplete the other team in the trade to the point it’s probably not worth it. The LW column posted above falls into that category.

Not really lol. Again untouchable mean the team wouldn't trade them for anything. There is a package that every GM will trade every player for. That package may never come to fruition, but that doesn't mean a player is untouchable.
