I think Josh Brook is a solid prospect. I'm slightly concerned how Ian Mitchell will take that. He could stay in Denver for another year if he doesn't think he has a path to NHL ice time. I like the target and including Smith. MTL can take that cap. Heck, I'd even take a Dale Weise back so long as Smith's 2nd year is gone. I'd prefer a different prospect of additional picks vs Josh Brook. Nothing against him.

I'm not a fan of the Nylander Trade. I understand your thought process. TOR's weaknesses are Grit, RD defensive Dman, and a backup goalie. I still don't think TOR does it. Ceci isn't playing as poorly as most people believe and Nylander still has the highest upside out of all those people. With that said...as a Hawks fan I'm not a big fan of it either. There's just better players with much smaller cap hits to target than William.

I dont think a good one exists between the Hawks and Leafs without a 3rd party involved and major restructuring. The irony to me is the Nylander Saad comparison. Hawks fans have been ridiculed for homerism about Saad. That posession numbers aren't enough. He doesnt produce. Hes a cap dump blah blah blah. Who do you think William Nylander is?! Their career paths are much closer than people think. Different styles of play sure, but 8 points delta for career bests is FAR from another 8th OA pick and a 2nd.

LMAO...Leafs can keep Nylander...a "dynamic" $7M a year winger on pace for 48 points and a whooping 16 goals this year playing 17 1/2 minutes a game on the 2nd line and next to JT (when healthy). Boqvist alone is worth more then Nylander. Good luck Leafs

Exactly...

Saad vs. Nylander is pretty darn close. Saad has been the better player recently but it's extremely close. One thing to note, Saad is also mainly playing on the 3rd line last season and this season and not on the powerplay and Nylander is on the 2nd line averaging almost 2 minutes more per game this season and next to one of the best centers in the league in JT. They are also different types of players with Nylander more of puck handler, speed and play maker versus Saad being a power forward two way winger. Needless to say, it's an interesting debate given how close they are in what they bring to their teams success.
This Season Stats: Saad .27gpg .46ppg Nylander = .20gpg .60ppg
Last Season Stats: Saad .29gpg .59ppg Nylander = .13gpg .50ppg
Contracts: Saad = $6M (2 years remaining), Nylander = $6.92M (5 years remaining)
Age: Saad = 26 Nylander = 23

Given the age difference, I would say Nylander has more value despite a $1M higher cap hit but it's not far off... Saad and a 2nd rounder for Nylander who is overpaid for what he's currently delivering (on pace for under 50 points and only 16 goals).

I’m not a big fan of nylander, but he will get better and he drives play at a 1st line rate. Saad is 27 and he is what he is - 20 g 40-50 pt winger.

Everything I’ve seen from Leaf fans, which is mostly from SDP and twitter, is that Ceci is barley a bottom pair guy. Murphy’s an upgrade on him and could arguably be their best RHD. Crow would allow them to not play Anderson 70 games a season and Cags is a guy that can play up and down the lineup much like Connor Brown was for them. Nylander just got benched by Babcock and is coming off a down year, he also really improves the Hawks team speed. I think if you played him on a line with a couple of two way forwards with offensive upside he would really thrive much like his brother Alex.

As far as Brook. He and Mitchell could both play next year in the top six for the hawks assuming they trade Murphy and sit Seabrook. Plus I think the Hawks would show more loyalty to Mitchell considering he was a draft pick by the hawks.

Those are just my thoughts.

If Chicago doesn't get it together soon Saad seems like the perfect fit for the Oilers, what's Saad really worth right now?

That's what people said about Saad when he was with Toews and Hossa. I agree nylander is the better player. Factor in the extra 1M and then the question is what additional should CHI send. I personally wouldn't give the 2nd alone. You dont give $7M contracts to players that REQUIRE playing with #1OA picks. And hes proven that he needs that. Theres a reason jurco is playing with McDavid...

That's exactly what Nylander is right now, a 20g (on pace for less) and 40-50 pt winger. Beyond age, the other difference to Saad's benefit is he's a lot tougher on the boards, plays a 200 ft game, and plays the penalty kill. Defensively Saad is a much better player. Given the age difference, and the fact Nylander costs $1M more, I don't think it's far off. Hawks throw in a 2nd at most but no more then that.
