What about Puljujärvi for Duclair, straight up. I am neither a Sens fan nor an Oilers fan here, I am just trying to assess as objectively as a I can. The truth is I've always like Duclair's game, and perhaps he's found a long-term home in Ottawa. That said, I think the potential in Puljujärvi would match whatever early results Duclair has provided to this Sens team. Thoughts?

i think this would be fair if we were looking to change our roster, but as of now i think we would get a prospect back to play in the AHL.

I would probably do it, I just don't think Ottawa is looking to move him, at least not yet. He's taken a while to come online, but he's looked really dangerous the last few games. On a team that lacks creative skill up front, he fills an important role.

Duclair's speed is his asset, and I would argue on a team that's not particularly fast, or skilled with the puck (he does a pretty good job at that too, when given the minutes), it's amplified when, for example, as a Leafs fan, I was so impressed with Duclair's overall game against them (the Leafs). That said, I am not sure how committed the Sens are to him long-term. I know there are holes in his game, and I also know he can be incredibly streaky (at least in the past), especially offensively, when that is what his team is ultimately looking for him to do.

I don't know if the sens are looking to commit long term to Duclair, but I think they've liked what they've seen for them to push that decision further down the road. If they are on the fence come the TDL, I could see them playing the season out with Duclair, then making that decision in the Summer.

Tierney and Namestnikov could be gone at the trade deadline so IF the plan is to make Puljujarvi part of the future play him with guys that are sticking around. That means seeing if he has chemistry with Tkachuk and L. Brown. The REAL issue is that OTTAWA is going to want to move a contract as part of this deal so they aren't maxed out at the 50 limit. My guess would be DeMelo since he's UFA and they aren't likely to give up JG Pageau right now. Does Chlapik and DeMelo get the deal done? Probably not, because Ottawa is trading from the weaker position.

No need to add DeMelo. Puljujarvi in, Chlapik out keeps us at 49/50. Not ideal, but with the deadline looming, they will be able to make trades to add more flexibility on that front.

As far as who to put Puljujarvi with, right now Namestnikov-Tierney is the most dangerous offensive option for him to play with. I don't think I like playing three inexperienced guys together unless they're able to dominate, so I wouldn't put Tkachuk-Brown-Puljujarvi together right away.
Start him with 90-71 then if they do trade both players once the TDL comes around, you can swap in Balcers and White who should both be back by then.

RIGHT! Chlapik would be a contract going the other way. Ugh. I woke up at 2AM so my brain is skating at a Jonathan Cheechoo speed. Speaking of SPEED, it'd be fun to see Puljujarvi with Formenton. What nightmare for the other teams D. Haha.

Pretty incredible balance of size and Speed throughout the top 9, with Skill all the way through.

No i want more back for the Oilers . That doesn't get it done. Oilers need an established player that is good for twenty. Or a player right on the cusp of breaking through

Nope. Puljujarvi is not established, shown no signs he's good for 20, or on the cusp of breaking through. No one cares about his stats in Liiga, that league his less talented than the NHL, SHL and KHL.

Duclair is on his 5th NHL team by the age of 23. Columbus basically threw him at Ottawa, the two 2nds were more than enough for a Dzingel rental. Makes you wonder...

I've seen a few Chlapik + 2nd for Puljujarvi trades on here, it's interesting but I think you'd probably have to be a 2020 pick to get Holland's attention... I was wondering how Sens fans rate Josh Norris? I think Norris would be more attractive to Edmonton, as he's a guy who could develop into a decent 3rd line center down the road. At the very least would give Ryan McLeod some competition.

Our AHL coach Troy Mann recently said that Norris would be a big player for the Senators VERY soon. More importantly he's Brady Tkachuk's best friend, which was the FIRST THING Dorion said about him at the draft. They aren't going to move him. To be honest, and I know this will shock you, I'm not sure I'd make that trade 1 for 1.

Josh Norris isn't untouchable, but he's untouchable in this context. He's a guy who can do everything, and he's going to be a key contributor in the middle six for years in Ottawa.

A 3rd line of Formenton-Norris-White could potentially ruin people's lives with speed.
