Gudbranson trade is not a good sign

Description
Probably means Manson is out long term and seeing the injury I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s done for the season which means Gudbranson is probably going to be playing with Lindholm. That’s not good. Also shows the don’t think Hakanpää has any chance of playing in the NHL this season. Plus Kase probably has another concussion and that’ll be long term too. Season is slipping away already. Maybe the call up Sprong while Kase is out? Problem would be waivers again for him when Kase get back.

I agree... BUT I don't think Sprong would have to clear waivers again after already clearing once this season, though I could be wrong, and yes he would be the ideal Kase replacement imo and HOPEFULLY due to the extremely weird nature of concussions Kase is only out a week or two, but due to past concussion issues I A highly doubt that, and B think they would (rightly so) hold him out a bit longer to be 100% sure that he's fully healed from this (and all his previous) concussions

Waivers only last like 30 days. So Sprong would have to go back thru to go down.

Not true. A player has to be in the NHL for 30 cumulative days before he qualifies for waivers again. Since Sprong cleared waivers in the preseason and has been in the AHL ever since, he could be recalled and then demoted again without waivers as long as he's not up for 30+ days.

You’re right. 30 days or 10 games in the NHL.

Why didn't Anaheim trade with Sabres again and take Montour back for Terry or Kase?

If no one wanted Sprong before, I doubt they’d want him now lol. Kind of the risk ya gotta take imo. Unless you aren’t planning on being competitive. And considering they took on Gudbranson, I doubt they are.

Kind of crazy to think we traded a good RD in petterson for Sprong, who is now in the AHL. I would gladly take Petterson, Montour, or Vatanen back.

The saddest part is Gudbranson is so statistically bad that Holzer would actually make more sense playing with Lindholm.

If a player has been on waivers once in a season, they are no longer waiver eligible for that season

Jah, I think you're right about Manson and Kase. It's hard to say for sure because the front office is always so tight lipped about these things, but I doubt we see either one back in the lineup before Christmas

I think Sprong makes a lot of sense as a call up to replace Kase. Sure he doesn't play well in his own end, but the kid is a finisher. Its clear to see that the Getzlaf line has been hurting for a goal scorer. He might be just what that line needs right now

You're not wrong. Part of me wants to jump back on the tank and ride it straight to the bottom of the standings again

But I feel like this club needs a bounce back year for morale sake. You can tell by the way they play that these players aren't going to give up like they did for most of last year. My prediction: they end up near the playoff bubble and either miss the post season or get taken out in the 1st round. They'll end up with an 11-20th pick

After seeing the highlights of that game the other day, they will have a top 5 pick.
