Kapanen is worth more in a trade which is exactly why they'll keep him. The goal is cap space not a weaker team.

But Kap has not looked good on the second line with Tavares and Marner. So Kap will stay on the third line probably wont get much better sitting on a third line. Moore has proved he can take his spot and Julien has a lot of up side. I really don't think trade Kap for a second (possible first ) and Julien is making the team weaker. If Hyman comes back and Tavares is ready to go and they produce. Absolutely that would be the best trade.

Bet yet, he’s played really good on the third

Teams are usually never healthy, so it's tough to plan. I do agree that Kapanen might be the player to be traded, but it would be for Dman. If cap allows RWer Korshov from Marlies could be a Leaf.

Kapanen has 8 points in the last 7 games. He may not fit on the first line but this kid is a player and this team needs him more than futures.
