A lot of Vlasic to MTL trades lately, to put it simply, SJ would have to PAY MTL to take that 32 year old with a 7 year contract. Thinking that they will give up multiple assets of value for him, even with money retained is a mistake.

I assumed kulak isn’t valuable (I could be wrong)
And I’ve heard MTL is trying to shop Lehkonen for cap space ( I could be wrong )

I could reduce the 2nds sent to SJS but your basically turning kulak + lehkonens cap into almost Vlasics hit is pretty good. But yes 2 2nds is a bit much I’ll accept that

You might be mistaking Kulak with Reilly. Kulak and Petry have been MTL's best pairing for the better part of the last 30 games since they were put together.

My take is that Vlasic and MTL aren't a great fit. Just because he speaks French and Habs scouted SJ defensemen doesn't mean they are really interested in trading for him specifically. It just means that they want a clearer picture of what's out there.

Lehkonen is the ‘’proteger’’ of Marc Bergevin and Claude Julien. Lehkonen play more than Drouin Kotkaniemi Byron without powerplay time. WSH tried Burakowsky vs Lehkonen and Bergevin said no. Lehkonen isn’t on the market. Kulak-Petry is MTL 1st pairing ( not Mete-Weber ), Kulak is pretty good paired up with Petry.

Honestly, even if you ask Alzner vs Vlasic 1 for 1 MTL decline, but you rather just keep Vlasic. No teams are welling to take that contrat, even if he’s still good at 32. At 34-35, is contract gonna be a ****show

Montreal is scouting San Jose because they play this week. Montreal media creates rumours out of this because they know the fanbase will eat it up with a spoon.

Kapanen is clearly more valuable than Karlsson, who isn't the young, mid-level RhD Toronto needs.

But my point is that Toronto wouldn't exchange a good forward for a bottom-6 forward just to get two second-round picks; they need a RhD.
