Description

An alternative to burning a year of Heinola's ELC is to sign-and-trade for one of Edmundson or TVR in order to lock him up for 4 years before other suitors can bid on them next year. Though Carolina is a Cup contender, they have an uber-deep defense with two productive pending UFAs in Edmundson and TVR. With Haydn Fleury playing very well on his off-side and with proven positional flexibility, they have room to trade one of the two for more youth and picks.

TVR is only on the 3rd pair because of being on the #1 defense in the league. He's one of the best defensemen in terms of Goals Above Replacement. TVR is a plug, wouldn't give more then a 4th round pick for him, Vesalainen would be a huge overpay for him.
