Think he's going to be second LD behind K'Andre Miller in a couple years. Very underrated.

Why the rush to sign him to an ELC right now? He'll be in the "Dub" for the entirety of this season and maybe next.

with ELC slide, he'll be also eligible next year to slide as well.. two years of slide for someone they know they'll want up in the big club within 3 years.. gives them an extra 1-2 years of control

edit: also minimizes the cap hit as signing bonus' do not slide.. so if he slides for 2 years, the signing bonus' will be complete by year 3 but he'll technically be under salary for another 2 years after that at only his salary

I think he's got 2 more years in the WHL; NHL-CHL agreement, I think, stipulates that CHL players can't play in the AHL until they've played at least 4 seasons of CHL hockey (which is why Joe Veleno can play for Grand Rapids this year, because he was granted 'Exceptional Player' status and allowed to start in the QMJHL a year early).

Thanks. Spanky had it right. He is only 18 so he can slide twice and then come up to AHL or Big Club at 20, or make the team next year at 19. Anyway nothing wrong with signing him now. Kid is gonna be good.
