LAK declines, blocks your number and email, and smashes the phone
....and crawls into bed with a cold beer and a warm box of Krispy Cremes to see if there are any good '80s movies on NetFlix and cry because I'm right, and it's gonna be a long eight years?
I'm hoping it's more of a good humored interaction.

Honest question Eli... where you high when you posted this?
You could retain 50% on both Oshie and Gudas for Doughty with NO retention and LA laughs and hangs up.
I haven't gotten high since I can't remember when, and I don't want to. But if I made someone laugh, then it's a good day.

Then why did you do an AGM specifically to trade for him? This is YOUR AGM. Do you even hear (well, not hear because it is text...) yourself in these threads?
Someone commented that if Gudas hits UFA, the Caps might need a long term 2RHD next year. So I thought I'd start with the best possible solution, suggest the best possible price, and argue it based on statistics.
Also, I got tired of reading your comments calling Oshie's contract "long" and "expensive," so I thought maybe pretend-trading him for someone with an actual long, expensive contract could help you, personally, see the difference. Yes, Doughty's contract ends at 37, and Oshie's ends at 38, but Doughty just put up 75% of his career-best point total last year, and is owed another $88M over 8 more years. Oshie put up 90% of his career best, last year, and is owed another 27.5M over six years. For what it's worth, each of their career bests is 60 points. That is worth more from an offensive defenseman, because (edit: it's rarer, and also) they usually do a better job with puck possession, but in the Kings' discombobulated mess of a season last year, Doughty set a career high in giveaways, with 105, and only made 23 takeaways. Again, I fully expect Doughty and Oshie to each put up 50 points this coming season and to each look like a great deal relative to their contract. I do not expect either side to want this trade. Washington would rather have Oshie and Gudas because they fit better in the roles they have. LA would rather have the guy who led them to a bunch of championships and won a couple of Olympics for Canada, because if he bounces back, he'll carry their team on his shoulders. I get that. Sometimes. And other times I think Gudas is better.
