It's only a hot take because people are so short-sighted when it comes to sports. You are spot on. Trading Laine would be the stupidest decision in Jets 2.0 history by a long way. Thankfully I don't see Chevy doing that at all.

Respectable. My opinion is that when he's not scoring goals he's trash defensively and he scores in bunches at a time so when he's not scoring he's just a body on the ice. He definitely has that potential to be a better player with and without the puck. I just hope he can round out his game a little bit more every year.

Preach it sister, I've been saying it for a while. Laine had 80 goals in his first 155 nhl games (first 2 years). Thats over .5 goals per game. Literally only 1 person playing in the league had a better gpg alin their rookie and sophomore years

I totally agree. So tired of seeing posts of him being traded for Leddy, Risto, Faulk, etc. He's worth way more than those players even though his attitude is not quite ideal.

Totally agree, I'm a Jets fan and I've said the same thing. If they don't get this Laine situation sorted they're really not cut out for the big leagues, should just stick with being a home to an AHL team.

Glad someone finally said it, jets fan here. I love speculating Laine trades, but when I try to put out something realistic the other teams fan base freaks out cause i “overvalue” him lol. Imagine if WSH traded OV within the first 3 years. They’d look like absolute idiots. Like many have mentioned, if WPG makes a rash decision to trade laine to fill buffs spot they should fold tbh. The guy is gonna be a perennial 40 goal scorer. Paul Maurice does not properly utilize him and it’s just a fact that he should be getting over-extended looks on the 1st line. Sign him to 3x7 and get the f*ck going.
