Schultz to WPG

Description
I honestly believe that PIT is going to be a lottery team even with Schultz this year. Not sure if it's Rutherford's mixed up mixology or Sullivan's coaching style but something just doesn't seem to be gelling. PIT get's a chance to build the farm a bit but also has cap and picks to improve if my thought's are awry. WPG gets a now much needed TOP needed RD that can play 1st line minutes unless they pull off a BIG Conner or Laine trade for a #1 RD.

Yes, other than 1st D line, it's quite possibly cataclysmic but PIT gains cap going forward, picks and decent prospects.

Literally they given up 2 amazing prospects and a first for a rental more like 1 of those 3 for Schultz but all 3 that's an insan overpay.

Well Appleton isn’t an amazing prospect, but yeah packaging him with Niku, whose going to play top-4 this year and a 1st in a very deep draft is a bad idea for a rental

Niku has some potential for a 2nd pair RD and Appleton has some middle 6 potential but I 'd hardly call them amazing. I'd be fine with the 1st being conditional as a counter offer.

With Buff's suspension, their RD core now consists of Pionk, Niku and NOBODY. Getting a veteran that can play 1st line minutes (more suitable to 2nd but...) is about the only thing that they can do to try and save a team that should be competing for the Cup this year

Why would the jets trade away, players with team control and a first, for a questionable upgrade with minimal team control, little different in wpg, where they have to overpay for ufas, so they take a little more interest in there homegrown than some of the other teams in the league

Lol and you think that is worth 2 of our top 5 prospects and a 1st pick in a very deep draft..? For a player who is injury prone nonetheless.. interesting

With all there losses and struggles to sign there rfas, looking at a step back season, I just don’t see Shultz enough of a upgrade for the cost, jets are bargain hunters going to find a dman on waivers early in year and run out morrissey and 7 other dman

Shultz is a minimal upgrade over Pionk or Niku? I agree about the team control so I'd be OK with conditional on the pick, maybe PIT adds a bit but how can anyone think that WPG is gonna be OK after losing their top 4 D from last year?

FIrst off, the penguins aren't retaining on Jarry. That's absurd. Edmonton can figure it out if they want him, otherwise he's going to wbs and most likely someone grabs him on waivers.

Second, why would the Penguins do this. Who cares what the Jets think. The only way the penguins are moving Schultz is if they don't make the playoffs and it's TDL. Period. They aren't going to kill their chance at the playoffs trading away a legit puck moving defense man while they are trying to win a cup. That's just fantasy land. Nothing against Niku I'm sure he'll develop into a fine player. But that doesn't help them now. And frankly, it is win now.
I don't see the return here being nearly worth it. Matter of fact, it it's TDL and they are not in, Schultz returns at the very least a 1st and good prospect. No sense in doing this at all.

As far as the Simon trade, they will want more for him. My guess is he gets packaged into a deal with JJ. Maybe Simon, Jarry and JJ go for some kind of a return of minimal value but cap savings.

Starting with LOL to anyone's opinions is a great way to entertain serious discussion but we will move along from that.... If Appleton is one of you top 5 prospects, OUCH. They have been saying it's a deep draft for the past 3-4 years but it's really not nor has it been.

What you are proposing is like trading a Yugo for a decent Acura. I'm proposing a decent Mercedes for an electric BMW (could be good given certain circumstances).

Small market team like wpg, can’t jump or impulse shop, they need to trust there development and drafting, and hopefully poolman is ready, after appearing for a short time a couple seasons and other moose have to fill holes. I’m saying it’s not ideal but it’s probably going to be morrissey and a combination of 7 other dman this year, Probably including a waiver pickup. With the past summer, probably headed for a lottery pick that wouldn’t hurt either to reset the blueline. This may help the fan base bank account a little, for some future runs.

That waiver D might even be Ruhwedel. That guy gets so much crap for being a $700k 7th D but he's probably gonna be the one they think could go untouched if he's waived. He's really not that bad.

Ya there’s usually a few guys that just need a Change of scenery or opportunity to get something rolling. I Don’t believe the jets have, much of a chance to have a great season with out laine and or Connor, no matter, how good or bad the blueline plays.

Myers was an absolute pylon, and Chairot was meh, buff hurts, but he could come back, even if he doesn't make a decision till like Jan but comes back then I wouldn't be surprised, plus Niku is really good, and isn't a ton worse than Schultz rn, plus the age difference and contracts... I'm not sure WPG would do the trade 1 for 1...

ooof thats really bad for winnipeg. 1 year of schultz does not get you 2 solid prospects plus a 1st in a projected deep draft while the Jets seem to be on the decline.
