What do you mean, that the jets won’t sell laine for 5/6 defenseman and 3rd and 4th liners, and minimal potential

IMO (and probably quite a few others) Necas is one of the best prospects in the world. Definitely projects as a top six center with a ton of offensive skill.

Legacy trade for Chevy, if laine headed the other way, going to need more than just projects. Laine could go off on aho wing and Chevy could be looking for work

Keep in mind it would be very rare for a team to trade their two best prospects. If Chevy decides he has to move Laine, WPG definitely isn't winning that trade. It would be a "cut your losses and get some nice pieces" type of deal, one that's better than having Laine sit out all year with nothing to show for it. Sure, they could ask for a proven NHLer, but then they're probably not getting their 2 top prospects. Maybe something like Haula + Bean + Kuokanen + 1st. There's no doubt that Laine is worth more than that, but I just can't see WPG getting the full value if they end up trading him. (I doubt they trade him, most of these contract issues become completely overblown by the click-bait media).

Tough trade to pull off, we will see, I just see a similar trade to evander Kane to Buffalo, where 1st, a recent top of second round pick and Tyler Myers, type deal, there was a few more pieces, I don’t recall. But you maybe right with prospects, that you all ready project high might lower the established nhlers in the return. I just hope Chevy has the resolve and patience to leave laine in Switzerland if needed

Exactly he “projects” laine is a proven 30-40 goal scorer already. Hes still getting signed by the jets so none of this matters anyway.

This is a not a “worst trade” these are two of the some best prospects in the league, atleast on carolina as one of you said. Necas is legit a top talent in the league and Bean is the canes future OFD they’re hoping for. Yes they’re “projects” but not like if San Jose offered you our best prospect; those are projects. Bean and Necas are up their on future talent league wide. This trade doesn’t help Winnipeg immediately and you should be asking for 1 of these 2 and a current nhl impact (of quality) but bean isnt expected to be a 6th man and Necas isn’t expected to be a 4th line. Both should be top 4 man and top 6 pieces with confidence, so it’s not a terrible offer

So it'a a bad trade for whom? I'm confused.....by the way, this trade is very fair....if, you were simply making this trade based on draft spots, Carolina wins...the 2 players were the 12th and 13th pick, which by draft positioning is worth 988 points, while the 2nd overall pick is worth 871 points, and a mid 3rd is somewhere around 160 points...In this scenario Carolina would have to throw in a 7th rounder for it to be even. However Carolina is throwing in TOR 1st rounder, which should be very late...worth somewhere around 280 points. You can't really put a point total on Poolman because he's probably better than his draft pick, but let's do it anyway...127th pick is worth 85 points...So, Carolina is giving the Jets 152 points in this trade....or the value of a late 3rd rounder for exchanging potential value for real world value. Necas and Bean are top 50 NHL prospects...but Laine has scored 110 goals and 184 points in 237 games and is the same draft class and age as Bean and an NHL ready Dman (granted probably a bottom pairing), but still a reliable and very usable guy. See guys, this is how trades are made...this is how GM's thinks....The Jets aren't going to give Laine away as someone suggested....thats nuts....
