Point said months ago in a private conversation in Calgary i think to a friend, then it got leaked: "I don't want a bridge deal." ---> 5 years+ he wants...

But we have the power here:
Either he signs until Dec.1, or he doesn't play full season...
BriseBois never in a million years agrees to a 10 million $ deal... even for 8 years... but that's also not even that bad deal for us...
Point is in his prime... for lot of years...
So the solution will be... trade Killorn + somebody with NTC next season... TJ or somebody else will have no choice... we will let him know way before that.. so the guy who leaves knows in advance...

If Pointerz accepts an offersheet for 8.4 million $ , we instantly matching... good deal for us for any years... like Aho = would be a blessing...
But 99% chance--> Noone will offersheet him midseason for 10.5 mill $ +... not worth 4 first round draft picks for any GM...

8.5-10.5 mill $ --> we match it as well... good way for him to destroy future contract talks,respect from teammates, respect from fans, if he wants to play in jersey forever...
Imo he doesn't accept it still... i feel like this guy knows... money = not everything... i'm like 99% sure he doesn't accepts offersheets. You can quote me later if he does... then the 1% happens... but now it looks like it's under 1% for a while...he needs to sign it and i don't think he will...

I have the biggest faith in him and in BriseBois that they will find the perfect solution and Point will happily go for the cup this year + hopefully more years at all costs...

If Stamkos 8.5 mill $---> He knows he can't ask for Matthews money, as he already said in a paid content in "theathletic.com" in 2019 early months:
"I'm not in the same category, as Matthews" = not 10-12 million demands at all, unlike Marner, who from first moments wanted only 11.5 mill $ @ 5 years

I was the only one probably on this site who figured it out on august 3rd: Marner will get probaby 10.9 @ 6 years or like 10 mill @ 3 years(blocked by Shannahan = rip 3 years duration contract talks since months ago). If you read the Marner signing topic, u can find my super long post from August 3rd.

Point also said a lot of times in interviews: I'm not a goal scorer --> i don't deserve gigantic money yet. = He knows... he probably understands the cap situation as well...
Also sitting out = bad for team, bad for him... and he get's 0 $ contract = worst thing ever a player could do, after december 1st deadline... he will not do that... it's not worth it for him...

Marner camp = only cared about Matthews money + years, nothing else... Dubas = too much pressure from media = offered sky high - ridicoulus contract in last days = crazy bad for Toronto, but it only happend because of Nylander last year.
NO GM should ever do that... offer multiple solid money @ various years offers and say: this is our last!!! offer... take it or leave for whole year... see you in 2020 june... if you will not appreciate our generous offers... your choice...
I mean i hope BriseBois is not lowballing him with like 5-6 million $ offers...

Anyways, Point is like the opposite: Cares about the team and don't care about Kucherov's money...

One thing you can bank on: It will be under 9 million... the rest... years... or 7 mill... 8 mill...9mil... all good deals for us... so doesn't really matter...

Just relax & enjoy the next season in couple of weeks. I repeat : Point contract = no bad outcome for us.


He is not like Kevin Hayes for 7.1 million ---> impossible for Pointerz contract to be albatross, and that's the one thing you want to avoid in NHL.
Milan Lucic + David Backes etc... vs. Young players(CENTERS!!!)with 7-10 million = amazing deal for any team.


Can't wait to see, if Volkov makes the team or not. Kucherov is coaching him for weeks = really tryhard mode
