Talks progressing is all I’ve heard, that and Lebrun “thinks” 6 x 10.5m is fair. Far from anything being done soon or a 9.5m aav.

Friedman said that they met at 6Y term and he expects it to be in 10s. CJ reported earlier today that they had significant improvement. LeBrun too.. the big guys. CJ would likely be first to report when signed.

Read between the lines. Likely the AAV is the issue now and that would be fast as always. Id expect 10.416x6 but anything closer to number starting with 9 would be better.

Well.. 6yr term is what multiple high level insiders reported.. even that one connected to Paul.. it would be interesting when its finally done, but they are getting it done.

Those Isle fans that are constantly chirping the Leafs saying there is no way Marner signs for less than Matthews deal are going to be so disappointed. I'm going to love it.

Rielly is my choice, then Matthews over Tavares, mainly because Matthews is the face and his leadership improvements have impressed me. He wanted to win so bad last year in the playoffs and totally carried his linemates around the ice. Tavares is absolutely a worth candidate but he's a lesser player than Matthews. Still though Rielly is the clear choice in my eyes. He's such a class act. How he handled the homophobic slur situation was something else. He didn't have to say or do anything but felt it was vitally important to speak out against slurs anyways. He's my captain.

I'm cautiously optimistic right now. But given how public opinion has turned over the last couple of days with the leaks from the leafs, I could certainly see how Marner might want this to be done with. He's lost alot of leverage and goodwill and the longer this goes on the worse it will likely get for him.

As far ad Mitch not being aware of what's being said about him in public... well, its 2019 and hes not Amish. He knows that the hockey world (not just the leaf fan base) is turning on him.

IMO, Dubas Ferris, and Marner have had a summer of reading CapFriendly posts. From the thousands of posts they have determined what is a fair/acceptable deal. Easy.
