Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

The Devils have a really young and exciting team this year, but a lot of question marks this offseason. Can they make it work? What will it look like? Let's find out. PS: I'm writing this before I even put anything on paper... if you don't think Taylor Hall is worth 10.5mil at the very least - especially as an UFA - please delete your account and go back to the NFL or something. Overall I think the biggest question will be if they want to keep Vatanen. As a life long Devil - and pretty good defensive defenseman - I'm sure the Devils will want to keep Greene, and he'd be happy to take a little discount to lead him to retirement. I'm not well versed in their prospects, so I'm going to be doing this mostly with their current roster. Apologies if there's some big minor leaguer that should be moved up that I'm missing. Feel free to let me know. Cap assumes the worse that it only goes up 1.5mil this year as it did last year. Comparable contracts, Blackwood to Binnington (I know Blackwood isn't quite there yet, but figuring a similar bridge deal), Nico to Keller. Term for all contracts is pretty up-in-the-air, just getting the dollars down.

Just so it's known, I'm completely aware the roster size is too small. But after making this, I've come to the conclusion that either Vatanen or Schneider need to go this off season. I think all the signings are fair, but I guess they can hope for a short term on Nico and a smaller AAV, but I think that's a mistake.

Was just about to mention Vatanen...love the guy dont get me wrong but his injury history scares me more than Palmieris and thats saying something.

I think Cory will bounce back with the addition of PK + forwards up front that will contribute defensively. If not, he will be dealt to Seattle as a cap dump and Mack Black will be the guy.

Yeah, definitely a lot of what-ifs between those two players. Like also if Simmonds really meshes well with the team, what do they do with him? That'd be another factor in either one of Sami/Cory having to get the boot. As much as I wanted to include Simmonds, I don't know what his contract would look like long term. I think everyone agrees 5mil for this year alone was too much haha

I think its fine tbh, it gives us another year for players to develop. If Boqvist sees playing time and pans out at the NHL level then we can move him up in the lineup. Loving what Ray/Tom are doing
