If Laine pulls a Nylander they'll finish 7th in the Central. If not, they'll finish 6th. Their D, or lack thereof, is about to be exposed big time.

it will be hard, but the core forwards is still there (i am assuming Connor gets signed - long term now that Laine is pissing on his teammates). Laine is not an important factor here, remember last season he scored at approx. 3 goals per month pace (excluding November) - even less. Vesalainen can score at this pace too. The D will be in trouble but let's see how it plays out. If Josh is healthy, Kulikov plays decent, Pionk and Niku can still upgrade their game (they are young players), Poolman and Beaulieu can be good 3rd pairing; they can squeeze for playoffs. I am not saying they are contenders, just that they can slip into the 3rd Central place or WC.

At this point, a lot has to go right for them to make the playoffs. Byfuglien has to come back quickly, Connor and Laine have to be playing soon, Pionk has to be capable of top four minutes, Hellebyuck has to return to his form from two years ago, and Roslovic probably has to be a solid 2C right now. Given how stacked the Central is, that team has too many question marks.
