I don't think the Panik signing was bad. You might argue that term is too long, which is fair, but it made the cap hit lower. The dude scored 14 goals in 75 games in the barren scoring wasteland that was Arizona, AND his shooting percentage was lower than his career average. There's no reason to think that Panik couldn't come into Washington and score 20 goals. On top of that, Panik had positive possession stats on a team that was desolated by injury and still had a majority of his starts in the defensive zone.
My only real concern for Panik is that he's only played all 82 games once in his 7 year career. That doesn't bode well for the Caps if Oshie goes down with an injury too.
Otherwise, why trade for Biega? We already have a guy in Tyler Lewington who can be the 7D if we're going to move on from Djoos, and he's a RD too.
