Convincing Hall to Stay

Explications
This is obviously an insane idea, and there are reasons on both sides to say no, but this move makes a lot of sense for both teams when you dig into it. Chicago needs to reboot, and NJD needs to contend now, especially with Hughes cheap for only three years.

Will this happen? No, not in a million years, but should it? No, probably not. But isn't this site about having fun ideas and seeing how they might work? Yes, yes it is.

Détails additionnels:
CHI needs to retool at the very least, and probably rebuild. Hard to do, with both Kane and Toews on the books for $10.5M/year for the next four years. NJD needs to make a splash to show Hall, and to a certain extent Hughes, that they are here to compete now and for the next few years. To do it by trading Hischier, Wood, Smith, and Boqvist plus two firsts. The Hawks jumpstart their rebuild or retool with three solid young forwards (all three with top-six potential) and a potential top-2 D, plus two late first-round picks.

Sens take on the greater salary, which lets NJD make the insane and unlikely move I've already suggested, and the Sens can flip Vatanen at the deadline, likely for a 1st

I doubt Chicago would even entertain that, from the moves they're making, it seems like they'll keep their main core and keep trying to build around and go for it anyways - Especially with Kane having an unbelievable season in his 30s and no sign of regression. Miles Wood looks meh, Ty Smith and Jesper Boqvist have yet to prove they're another more than a B level prospect. Even Hischier hasn't broken out yet as a #1 Center.
And Ottawa management is too foolish to take on poor contracts for picks! squinting with tongue out
But you're right, this is all for fun. And when it comes to fun, seeing Kane and Hall play on the same line is very much so.

I like this. Issues- Marleau doesn’t sign for 1 mil. Devils would need to sign... hall which will be 11 mil- Simmonds (if they want him), bratt, demelo, Zacha, mueller, and Blackwood... they won’t have so much cap

on the one hand, CHI should say yes. this is a complete reset on their roster and sets them up for a decade.

on the other hand, if i'm CHI and i'm dealing kane, i really want to get off the seabrook contract as part of the deal. CHI will be hamstrung by that contract for another half a decade and a kane trade is the best way to get it off the books.

Convincing Hall to stay? If it's just $$$$, the Devils are one of few teams that has cap next year.
