I think PK Subban is quite underrated. I know lots of people call him overrated, but overpaid and overrated are totally different things. I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure a lot of people think he's a 2nd pairing defenseman. But he's not all offence and is a good defender, too.

However, i'm confused what got NHL.com to put Subban at #13 but Slavin outside the top 20. I think Slavin is top 10. I also think Subban was too high. What are your thoughts?

Slavin is an absolute stud, and should've been top 15 at worst. These lists are very subjective so I try not to nitpick them too much, but that was a really big notable omission.

Subban is probably underrated now, but was decidedly overrated before last season. He was never a good fit in Nashville playing behind Josi. He'll bounce back in NJ. He's a top pair #1 D on most NHL teams. So, anyone who says otherwise is oblivious to the facts. Other than SJS and NSH where isn't P.K. a top pair D?

NHL.com/NHL Network tends to place way too much emphasis on offense and way too little emphasis on defense. Morgan Rielly was way too high. Watch Tyson Barrie outperform him next season. Subban could score 65+ points now that he's the Devils #1 D. Watch him tear it up on the PP. As far as Slavin goes, I think the NHL Network fan poll ranked him #10. So he is highly regarded by the hockey world. Most overrated D is w/o a doubt Charlie McAvoy. He's obviously a stud, but I would take Slavin all day, every day.

I think most people would put Slavin ahead of McAvoy, am i wrong? Subban's defence is pretty underrated, though, IMO. He didn't even put up that many points last year. I think he'll get 60-65 points this year, though. I think Subban is more than a 2nd pairing guy, but i'm pretty sure a lot of people put him way lower.

People don't like his attitude. They didn't like him acting all Hollywood during an NHL season When he's 100% focused on the ice he's elite.

He has a norris, one of the best players on and off the ice and is one of the best defensive defenseman in the league

Alright, I'm a Devils fan and I think Subban is great but 1. He's probably not better than Slavin 2. He is not a defensive defenseman

Subban is good defensively IMO but not as good as Slavin.
