I mean, it’s not even close. I don’t think anyone rational would think those two players are close in value

Ya but he’s right. Bruins need Mac more than they need Laine.

That Connor trade is terrible for the Jets.

McAvoy can stay in Boston.

Trading both Laine and Connor would assure the Jets miss the playoffs, it takes out 60+ goals and RNH and Puljujarvvi don't replace that production, can't count on Roslovic or Vesalainen figuring it out just yet either.

I dont disagree but to flat out dismiss this deal and say its not close is absurd!

In a vacuum it’s pretty close in value. In terms of organizational need. It isn’t.

Well... the Jets got caved in nightly last year and will not improve on that this year. The mix of these forwards currently in Winnipeg is kind of ... off. If JP and the Nuge can get 35-40 between them and along with McAvoy help reduce the teams overall GA significantly I would argue they will be more successful.

That's fair. In this fantasy the Bruins could have hypothetically made alternative moves to add say ... Zach Werenski or something after maybe Pastrnak or Marchand tears an ACL or something terrible! Thus altering organizational need.

Did the almost identical team from the season before get caved in on a nightly basis? A lot was going on in that room last season which caused this teams downfall, what exactly idk but it wasn't a talent issue, they did miss Armia though, he would've helped a lot in so many ways.

I agree this team doesn't have quite the right mix but dealing out a generational goal scorer and a 22 year old with two 30 goal seasons for a soon to be ufa 2C, a possible bust and a guy in McAvoy who you know won't want to sign with you isn't the answer to finding that right mix.

Now if you could turn Connor into Mantha or Meier then you'd be starting to find the right mix.

Really though this teams problems are its captain and his enabler standing behind the bench.

This was going to be my comment to @Bcarlo25 Laine and Mcavoy probably hold close to the same trade value but Boston would be nuts to make this trade.

Hey I'm just trying to throw some different looks out there. if I see one more Laine to montreal or Edm trade I am going to puke. I think KFC would be a way better fit with McJesus than #29. Perhaps there could be some tweaking to that deal but the Nuge (a former #1 overall) is exactly what the Jets need in that 2C spot and I believe the Jets are REALLY going to miss Trouba, hence the McAvoy deal.
I am not going to engage you over the captain.

I get that and I like RNH but this love affair with the guy like he's gonna solve the Jets 2C problem is one I just don't get. If you want to trade Connor for the Nuge and Puljujarvvi why are the Jets adding Stanley and picks? Term matters and RNH doesn't have much of it so the Oilers gotta add not the Jets.

I'm not worried about losing Trouba, he's overrated and he sunk the powerplay. Gawd all the discussion around Laine not scoring without anyone noticing he was getting WAY less passes fed to him on the PP cause Trouba just isn't very mobile. I think the defense will be fine as long as Poolman and Buff can stay healthy, that's my only real concerns with the defense.

Thats fair, zero love affair with the Nuge here. Hes a very good 2 way C and I think he would be a good fit with Jets.
I also feel the D will surprise this year and I fully agree about Trouba on the PP. Laine was snake bitten last year. He hit like 15 posts. easily could have had 10 more goals. He just optically looks terrible out there a lot of nights. When he really pushes he is one of the most dominant forces in the league.

Yeah I think RNH would be a good addition but the cost of Connor to get him is a big one and I still think the biggest issue with the 2C job isn't if Little is still capable of being one it's just an issue of chemistry. Little works great with Connor, Ehlers, Wheeler, Roslovic and Perreault so why not just try to find another combination that works amongst those 6 players before trading a very good player to fill a perceived hole?
Maurice is so frustrating, just same old same old trying to fit square pegs into round holes with him.

Laine will be fine, I'm really not worried about him at all. He's 21, it's like no one can remember a young Ovechkin that didn't back check or young Crosby and Scheifele that were getting knocked all over the place and couldn't stay on their feet.. Lol

As for the defense I'm good with it as is, I really don't like the Bitetto sighing though, the Moose are clogged with defensemen and it's time for some of these prospects playing in the AHL to get some NHL games for a look if there's an injury, Bitetto likely keeps them in the AHL but who knows, maybe they call up one of the kids.
