Lets trade a top 10 center in the league for a bunch of middle 6 guys...

Only problem on the leafs end is making room under the cap but Malkin is worth it.

What do you think you'd get for a 33yr old, making 9.5M who's past his prime? tears of joy
Coming from a PIT fan, I'd love this return

Malkin isn't top 10 anymore IMHO from a PIT fan...
All 3 guys we get have 20 goal potential and 40+ points, that outproduces Malkin, plus 1st 2nd.. seems good to me
They legitimately have 4 scoring lines here that they can roll out

Past his prime for the last 3 years and is still a 1.10 ppg player. Not the guy you trade for mid level talent and mid level picks.

If you actually get rid of Malkin it's at the draft, most likely for a top 10 pick and a couple of prospects. Trading him you want quality over quantity.

This is an offer easily outbid by other teams.

If this is outbid by other teams I'd be ecstatic to see their offers!
Just for fun, give me an offer from another team that would beat this

*Dubas approaches cashier*

Dubas: I would like one large Malkshake with extra Aston-Reese's pieces and a side of Simon please.

Cashier: That'll be one 3rd line and some lottery tickets

Dubas: Really? You guys have great summer deals...

I mean they're in win now mode, barely take on any salary and have the forward depth to do a trade like this but Sticking Out Tongue

A Pittsburgh fan thinking about the future imagine that. All 3 players have 30 goal potential and probably 60 point guys for an over the hill Malkin. Yeah he is okay right now (compared to his former self) but how long will that last? Will probably see even less production this year.

As a leafs fan I would not make this trade. Malkin does not fit with our core.

Lol. I know Malkin doesn't fit their core thats why I said I dont think they'd take the offer.
I'd be super happy if I was PIT and got those 3 and picks back for him RN

I think if you are going to move Malkin now is the time if you want a decent return. But hockey players are also people. For that reason maybe Malkin retires in Pittsburgh.

I agree. Although Malkin is like you said, most likely a lifetime penguin for better or for worse

There's quite a few forwards I'd take over Malkin rn..
McDavid, Kane, Drai, Mack, Barkov, Bergy, Elias Pettersson, Matthews, Tavares, Barzal, Marchy, Kuch, Marner, Point, Couts, O'Reilly, Giroux, Aho, Rantanen, Panarin, Schiefele, Ovi, Wheeler... the list for me literally goes on and on..

No doubt Malkin has more skill than 95% of those guys, but the fact he just doesn't try most of the time is excruciatingly frustrating
