I don’t think will see them in montreal this year. Montreal won’t have to protect them against Seattle if they don’t have 2 years of nhl experience

What are you sayin ? Even if they both play next year MTL doesnt need to protect them. I think it's impossible both make the team, but IF they do, that's my line up

If both play more than a number i think its 40 games a year to burn a year of eligibility. So basically if both ryan and nick play two season in nhl they would have too be protected for the expension draft

they're Pro regardless of if they play NHL there is no more entry level slide they will burn 1 year off their ELC whether its AHL or NHL .

if only NHL games counted then Evans would still have 2 years on his ELC and Fleury would have 3 years
neither do

there is no upside to Poehling and Suzuki in the AHL.
Suzuki only goes to the AHL if we plan on developing him as a Center
but with Shaw's void left unfilled its more logical to play Suzuki top RW then push Byron or Lehkonen to top 6 RW

I read 2 different things about the elc protected for the expension one said that player in their first elc contract doesn’t need to be protected and the other said that players with 2 years of professional hockey need to be protected but must be a american league or east coast league players that p’ay
In europe are exempt

"All players who have accrued two or less professional seasons at the end of the 2016-17 season (rules are from the Vegas draft change it to 2020-21), as well as all unsigned draft choices appearing on the teams reserve list, will be exempt from the upcoming expansion draft." So Suzuki and Poehling, with only 2 seasons, 19/20 and 20/21, until expansion, are guaranteed to be exempt.
As for lines I would go with

Tatar-Danault-Suzuki
Domi-Kotkaniemi-Gallagher
Drouin-Poehling-Byron
Lehkonen-Weal-Armia

Suzuki gets eased in a little by having a solid defensive C in Danault and a good veteran in Tatar, I do worry about the amount of ice time he would be getting. Kotkaniemi gets some talented offensive wingers to help him put up some points and get ready for more important minutes, Domi can also take some draws if needed and Gallagher is reasonably helpful defensively. Hopefully this line would be able to ease the minutes the Danault line would be playing. Drouin gets weaker defensive assignments which should help him, and Poehling by extension, put up some decent point totals, while Byron helps balance out Drouin's less than stellar dzone play. 4th line is just a good set of bottom 6 guys who should be able to eat some serious dzone starts and push play fairly well.

I'd rather see them get eased into defensive responsibility at the NHL level, let them get their NHL legs under them offensively first.
