Someone please offer sheet Marner

Description
I don't think an offer sheet will come at this point in the off-season. I don't think Marner would sign one anyway, he wants to stay in Toronto but he is being greedy. That being said, I would love for someone to give him an offer sheet. 4 first rounders are worth more than Marner IMO. His value is being inflated and his huge jump in stats from last year can primarily be attributed to Tavares joining his line, which is reflected by the fact that most of his points came via assists. He is definitely an elite player, but he should not be getting paid higher than any winger in the league.

I like how there is no one on here saying, JT and Marner both benefited form playing together. Its either bitter Isle fans saying JT wasn't that good and Marner made him better or its Leaf fans saying Marner was completely carried by JT.

Is it not a likelihood that both players are benefiting from having top end talent to play with?

I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time...

Marner never hit 94 points until he played a full season with Tavares

Marner played with old and slow NHL players his first two seasons, got buried on the fourth line for part of the 17/18 season, and still lead the team in points and got his linemates career highs in either goals, points, or both. Realistically, in the 17/18 season Marner would of had 75-80 pts if he played an entire season in a top 6 role, making the jump in points this year with Tavares less substantial.

He was on the 4th line for barely and games and that was because he was struggling

To add to that, but not take away from JT, Marner was at a point a game pace once he was playing with Kadri and Marleau in the 17/18 season. Everyone seems to have forgotten that, or they just omit it because it hurts their argument. That is strategy for most on here it seems, "Sure this information would be helpful to coming to a correct and well thought out consensus, but I don't care about intelligent discussion and just want my way, so lets just ignore that prior information that hurts my cause."

It was about 10 games, and prior to that he was struggling with Bozak and JVR before eventually spending the last half of the season playing with Marleau and Kadri, at which time he scored at better than a point a game pace.

slow and old players such as: kadri, bozak, jvr and marleau

he played like 5 games on the fourth line and scored more on that line when he played with matthews for a few games

The entire line was struggling, but Babcock used it as an opportunity to reset Marner as he was a sophmore in the league. Bozak and JVR continued to be dog sh*t but Babcock knew they weren't continuing with the team so he just let them fizzle out. And yes, Marner then got paired with Kadri and Marleau - two players who can skate and have good hockey sense, which made it ideal for Marner to produce.

No idea why, but Marner with Matthews just doesn't work. They just never seem to be on the same page, Nylander with Matthews is magic but Marner just doesn't click with him for some reason.
