Highly doubt the Wings are trading Mantha but for the sake of this if they were it wouldn't make much sense to trade for Ristolainen. I mean if they're trading Mantha shouldn't they just tear down completely and trade most everyone else a do a full on rebuild?
If they did trade him for Ristolainen I'd guess they'd want a 1st as well and something better then Hickey, probably a good forward prospect rather then Hickey like Pekar or that kid Sabres fans are super high on, Oloffson I think his name is.

I looked at DET depth chart on D and their defense corps is aging. Why I thought it made sense to trade for a 24 yrs old D man with offensive ability. There is the possibility of a first in this deal if Mantha performs.

Yeah their defense is aging but Hronek, Cholowski and now Seider in the system plus Dekyser isn't that old so I see your point but I think Detroit would have a serious drop-off in production if they traded Mantha.

You are probably correct. I also connected the 2 teams from all the whirl winds of Risto to Tampa while Stevie Y was there. Could be possible he likes the player was my thinking here.
