I do agree that this won't happen but that 3rd (SJS) to 2nd (DET) could almost be a 2 round difference. That's enough for Ehn to be a healthy quite often.

that's why I said he has a NTC and would want to go to a playoff team. But a return of possible 2 seconds and a decent prospect, they wouldn't get much more. Expecting a first round in return wont happen if they are looking to create cap room. I also don't think he deserves a 1st and 2nd

Ehn is a garbage prospect and Svech hasn't played hockey in a year. 2 2nds for a guy that can play center that just put up 29 goals is terrible.

No one is going to pay TBL value for Johnson (or Palat, or anyone else) to help them out of the cap situation they put themselves in. The league knows they've got TBL in a corner. They will have to get creative to get under the cap next year and put a full squad on the ice. And you won't be able to bank on the cap going up much in a contract year for the NHLPA/NHL Owners.

I agree that logic says more but he is approaching 30 and they desperately need cap space. The argument could also be made that his numbers are a little inflated because of the players around him.

With that being said Why trade for a guy that close to 30 who is going who we would probably have to trade as a cap dumb in a couple years. He wouldn't put us in the contender category and won't be there when they are one down the road. Hang on to the picks and ehn.
