You're almost basically moving the Callahan cap hit into Vasi's contract. Only problem will be if Point comes in with a big contract.

At least he is young and will be at the top of his game for 5 years at an absolute minimum, likely 7 or all 8. I'd much rather pay vasy this then price or Bob.

He is great I am not questioning that, he earned every penny. Vasi has held his end of the bargain for a while, the cap crunch is going to be so rough.

I would be more worried about Cirelli. He is going to have a breakout year and can easily turn to Point 2.0.

I think it's been pretty obvious for at least a season now that Sergachev won't be a member of the Lightning after this upcoming season. I've forever seen him as the piece they use to offload a name like Killorn or he gets flipped for other quality players that have another year on their ELC.

How many fringe NHLer's have actually suited up for the Leafs? Gauthier and Marincin? Yes they signed 7 guys who are going to fight for a roster spot but they are fighting for 2 roster spots maximum. You are saying that like that is all TO is doing? Are you thinking of Edmonton? Because half their roster is fringe NHL players, which the Oilers hope have career years.

Trust the BriseBois Blueprint my friend, if they committed to a 8 years deal with Vas it means they have some trick up their sleeve to make it all work. Otherwise they'd definitely have managed to re-sign him to a 5 years with a lesser AAV

Lol.

1) Sergachev is not a ****en sweetener. The Lightning held on to him while negotiating with Ottawa for Karlsson, and now you think the'll give him away for pennies? He's a 21 y/o Dman that can play both L and R, with already a 40 points season under his belt. If he'll get traded, Tampa will get a great return out of him.

(btw I'm very confident that Sergachev won't be traded away)

Is the trick signing cirelli to the title Johnson 3 years 10 million dollars deal? Or sergachev to a 1-2 year bridge?

I'm trying to have faith but it is definitely being tested.

I think Cirelli will take a 3.5ish AAV for 3 years, unless he puts up 65+ points this season. I could see us trading Joseph tho, no way we are able to re-sign him too.
Killorn and Paquette will all be gone by next offseason too IMO Erne possibly too. We got a lot of deserving prospects that can do an amazing job in the bottom six for a cheal ELC contract.
And I think that at least one of TyJo and/or Palat will be asked to waive his NTC and be moved

I never insinuated that a trade would look like Killorn+Sergachev for nothing, but if you think the Lightning are getting out of cap hell for free, you're horribly mistaken. Partially my fault due to the wording, but I did mean more of a "Killorn and Sergachev for another ELC defender and a later pick" type of deal where the Bolts aren't just dropping Sergachev for no return, but as a part of a bigger deal in order to make the salary cap work. The Lightning held onto him because they couldn't afford to not have a player as good as him for so cheap on their roster, whether or not they added Karlsson.

Look at what it cost the Leafs to flip Marleau, and he only had one year left on his deal. Killorn's a painfully average player (read: better than Patty) right now but he comes with term.

Next offseason is going to be incredibly difficult for the Lightning, and I'm pretty sure Cernak, Cirelli, and Joseph will be prioritized by management. Keep the skilled forward core together as long as humanly possible and prioritize RD as a strength alongside Foote. I don't doubt that Brisebois has a satchel of Stevie Y magic left in the office and that names like Killorn and maybe Johnson can be moved before that becomes necessary, I just can't see teams lining up to let Tampa continue to be the best franchise post expansion.

100% agree it's time for change and the new younger cheaper bolts to come up. The triplets were loved but it's time to move on. Not like they have been awful they have been very serviceable when they are in the line up. We will get value back for them. They aren't anchors. I guess we'll see. Palat and Johnson will be remembered in a positive way. Especially Johnson he was a playoff warrior a few years ago.

2 or 3 of which will make the team at most and there is an outside chance none of them will make it.

Sure, I think Spezza makes the team and then after that who knows and who cares. I'd just take whoever was better at killing penalties and winning faceoffs. Hell, I'd give Goat, Spezza and Shore the 4th line and be beyond happy with that, that would be good enough to play against anyones 4th line and also give 3 more faceoff guys for the PK

We'll see, I honestly couldn't care less who makes the 4th line. The top 3 lines are going to be deadly and I want them to fix the PK.
