hes alright, if anything wont be more than a depth guy. He always seems to be hurt but when he plays hes a strong hitting guy

Borgman is coming off a great year in AHL; Schmaltz's upside is going down. Borgman is also waivers exempt.

STL wins simply because Borgman is waivers exempt for 22 more games while Schmaltz isn't

Schmaltz will play more NHL games this season so I think it's a win for Toronto.

I thought Borgman had a pretty good shot at making the team this year in a third pairing role, especially after the Leafs moved Rosen. Schmaltz seems to be pretty much done at this point, so I don't see a lot of reason to make this move if you're Toronto.

Only reason I think TOR considered this was they had a plethora of fringe LHD and Schmaltz was RHD? I could be wrong but yeah I don't know why TOR makes this trade...

Dubas thought he was trading for a "European", Pietrangelo and Parayko sound Southern European. Unfortunately there was a switcharoo and the Leafs got the mid European Schmaltz.

MapLe Leafs be earning them L's out here. Borgman's upside is better than anything Schmaltz can dream of

I guess Dubas is trying the get something from nothing, both Rosen and Borgman were undrafted UFA Euros and after they passed the Marlies test they traded both away for NHL proven players.
