Everyone here is seriously undervaluing Bratt. Last season he was on pace for 53 points, the previous season he was on a 38 point pace. Obviously pace cant be taken as gospel but thats more points that everyone on the leafs except for Rielly, Matthews, Tavares, and Marner. He is easily a top 6 player.

Bratt, Vatanen, Boqvist, 2 firsts, and a possible second is a ludicrous overpay for Marner who wants a short deal and more money than he is worth. What leafs fans never take into consideration when they try to evaluate trades is cap space and its infuriating.

Now is you who's undervalueting Marner. The kid is just 22 and he had one 69 season and another 94. He's already a real deal and has upside to get even better. I think I'm offering enough. But maybe not enough to Toronto accept. It's possible that better offers than that come to them. I'll try to make another armchairs to get Marner for another possible fits.

Yes, that is why you don't have a trade. The two players leafs would want does not make sense for NJ to trade. Anything else you offer Toronto would not want.

Yes, both Nico and Hughes are untouchable. Almost every championship team has an excellent 1-2 Center combination.

toronto wouldn't take this deal and nj wouldnt give it. Toronto would want hischier or hughes (unacceptable) - shero still wouldnt give bratt boqvist and 2 firsts. It's time to contend and we want hall, the only viable option is a 3 year offersheet at 12.5, which quite frankly I'm not interested in. We need player who buy in, crosby, kane, mcdavid, did not ask max dollar, I'm fine paying marner 11.5 or 12 million, but for 8 years. He wants to cash in after the tv deal and that's not worth trading roster players after we've done so well to build from within.

Also, as stated numerous times he wants to play in toronto - the only real fit, which i still dont want would be hall with 8 x 11 extension in toronto and marner extending in nj...but given marner isnt doing that, I'd rather risk hall walks.

He would never sign it. His ask is shorter term and more dollars (11/5yrs). You put his signing at 10.5 for full 8 years. If he ever signed that (again, he never would), leafs brass would be dancing. You clearly do not really have an understanding of the Marner discussions- which is totally fine, you are a NJ fan. But with that considered, you should not be arguing this awful position.

Just a mistake of yours. I'm a Pens fan. As for 10.5 or 11M, those numbers would put Leafs in a cap hell situation anyway. When you have just 4 players (Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Nylander) being responsible for almost 50% of your salary cap, you're in a DEEP TROUBLE. That'd be a stupid decision and would compromise Toronto's future. Chicago was in a similar situation lately and I'm pretty sure that they're regret it. The reality in cap leagues is that you cannot keep all your top players. You Toronto's fans will have to face it and move on from Marner. Or pay the price to keep him...
