Michael Del Zotto has signed a new contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

This is just a depth signing for San Diego. I can't see him making the team even with their weakness at RD because Del Zotto is a leftie and the Ducks already have Fowler, Lindholm, Guhle, Larsson and Mahura.

I still don't know why they traded Montour for spare parts. Guhle may be something but it's an unknown as of yet, plus he's not RHD. The 1st may work but it was a late pick and those have a lower chance of panning out. Think Montour was young enough to be able to help the D in Anaheim.
Anyhow, MDZ will be nothing more than depth, though he may get a chance to get back as an NHL regular at seasons start. Won't be a long leash. Anaheim hasn't done enough to improve the roster as yet, so I suppose they're hoping for a bounce back from within.

I'm happy enough with the return for Montour. Dobber has Guhle rated higher than Larsson and Montour had some serious defensive shortcomings. But "Anaheim hasn't done enough to improve the roster as yet" doesn't BEGIN to cover it -- Murray has to do something about the right side of that defense besides hoping that Fowler can play his off side.

I kept signing Dakota Joshua to my ACGM's until he disappeared off the Toronto reserve list. I hope he's up with the big squad in a year or two.
