Description
KoKo never flourished under Claude, and was then pretty much never given his fair shot at the NHL level. Could he be coerced back under this new Cassidy scheme? If yes, do you think he's a piece that works for the Bruins, or do you think Studnicka would be a better option?

If Backes finds a way to disappear it's an interesting option if:
1. They think Studnicka needs a year in the A.
2. They can get him on a one year deal.

Do you think he even considers the Bs again? I know they left a bad taste in his moth the way they handled him with Claude. And do you think on a 1 year deal he would make sense even if Stud is ready? Have one of them on the wing with Kuhlman either on the 4th line or in the A?

I have wanted Koko to come back ever since julien left. this guy was a machine in the AHL for Cassidy. I hope they can coax him back to the nhl. would be a perfect 3rd line guy to be able to move coyle up

Russian currency sucks. I absolutely think he does. They have his rights as far as I'm aware.

thats the only way he gets back to the nhl. Give him a 1 year 1 way deal and let him play under cassidy again.

He's on the reserve list here, so I assume that means it would be like the Ilya Kovalchuk situation where Devils had the right to sign him first or just let him go wherever.

I was always waiting for them to let him stick, but god forbid Claude gave young guys more than 3 games to decide if they would ever play again haha.

I was THE biggest anti-claude guy. He just wanted old guys that could only play defense he wanted to try and win games 0-0. What you are young AND can put the puck in the net? AHL!

Perhaps, but I’m not comfortable with giving a guy 2.5mil when he proved nothing at the NHL level and was average for 2/3 of his KHL seasons

If you have Backes retire/LTIR, you have the space especially if you only give him 1 year over the two I gave him. But outside his first half season in the KHL, he has 87 points in 106 games.

Under Bruce in Providence he had 171 points in 197 games. He's a solid playmaker with the ability to put the puck in the net. Based on his potential (which isn't the smart way to give out contracts) I'd classify him in the same category as Heinen.

I'm just going to stop right here because what's the point in listing 20 players.

You're absolutely right. There are plenty that came into the league and stayed/thrived under Claude. I always felt that outside of the elite young talent at least in the forwards, there wasn't much leeway on the players who were more pure offensive talent than 2-way. And maybe it's just this KoKo situation that stuck out to me and made me develop this mentality towards Claude.

And that’s why they were good.

Khoko = Ryan Spooner. No defense at all and no desire to work on it. PP specialist.
