Description

Does this move the needle for Vegas?

Moving Eakin would get them under the cap and they'd get what is in my opinion a solid return for a 27 year-old "prospect" with good potential but 0 NHL games.

Does Vegas want more? Are the Wings giving up too much here? What are other teams willing to offer?

Sounds like Gusev is looking for a $4 million AAV and Eakin is probably Vegas' last choice of guys they'd want to move to create cap space, gotta think they'd prefer to move Reaves and/or Holden before Eakin.

I guess I don't see Eakin as some huge get. He's a 4th line center on a good team on a 1 year deal. Though he did net 20 goals last year. What if you upgraded that prospect to an A- one?

LMAO what? He's a 3rd line C on a contender. He was their most effective C against Winnipeg and Scheifele 2 years ago.

Hmm, pretty interesting deal. I'd have to think real hard about giving up an RFA for a UFA with no term though

He's not a 4th line center, he's a great two way 3C on any team, not many better 3C's then Eakin. Yes he's on an expiring contract but he was a half point player last season, if this trade happened Detroit could easily flip him at the deadline for a 3rd or maybe even a 2nd round pick.

Maybe make the pick conditional upon Eakin re-signing then. 5th or 6th if he doesn't, 2nd or 3rd if he does.

Guess I undervalued him. His stats were better than I remembered, that's for sure. The AA plus a 2nd for him and Gusev deal that Chris proposed is an interesting one. But that still doesn't help Vegas get under the cap which is the reason I was targeting Eakin in the first place
