Nothing short of what the Islanders were willing to give Panarin (12-13 million) isn't getting matched by the Leafs. They wouldn't have made all the moves they did if it weren't with the intention of keeping him. Also, I dont think he would like signing an offer sheet just to see you move his best friend in a trade....you also didn't sign your RFA's by the way

Leafs have 9m in cap space. Certainly wouldn't have to be Nylander traded.

But even the Isles would have to trading some assets next year to be cap compliant....and not getting equal money back in a trades

yah its gonna suck when he goes home to arizona in 5 years and then tavares only has a year left and marner will already be gone, and you will still have not won a playoff series
