9 times out of 10, the team who got the best player wins the trade.
I always thought the decision to trade Kadri, a legit #2 Center, was an emotional one rather than a practical one. Obviously, Barrie was highly regarded, but his numbers were ridiculously inflated from playing on one of the league's elite PP units in Colorado. But Leafs fans were so deranged over Kadri's major penalties in the playoffs that he pretty much had to go. Dubas also thought Kerfoot would develop into a solid #3 Center. That hasn't happened yet.
No one saw Barrie flaming out as badly as he did in Toronto, and Kerfoot has been fine and looks like he can be even better.
The trade didn't work out. That happens sometimes, but value wise I stand by this all the way.

if im honest i thought it was a steal as well
honestly looking back we really should've realized it wasnt a good fit
*2021 now. Right now this trade is looking very much in colorados favour...
I mean, I feel like the "i am very publicly low on Barrie bit" aged well. I always liked the kerfoot part of the trade best and while barrie was significantly worse than even i thought I stand by that the trade was fine

LOL at the time I also thought the leafs fleeced the avs. Now, not so much, but I agree it's not as bad as some people think.

no we did not he sucked in toronto now hes gone and kerfoots ok
The Kadri suspension and Kerfoot's playoffs do make this look a lot better for Toronto.
It depends on what happens to those 2 this offseason in term of who wins this trade (likely Colorado)

Forget that I even remotely suggested that this was fair. Who knew Kadri would suddenly be a point per game player.
Nah but FR tho, it looked good for TOR, but now that Kadri's having this year, I'm sure Dubas is regretting it.
Nah, he is just on a massive shooting bender right now. I stand by that the trade is a wash.
Besides naz wasn't traded for his performance in the regular season.

In general nobody has won this trade yet.
Its basically a draw rn. Sure Kadri is doing well but wait till the playoffs where he shuts off his brain and gets his ass suspended again. Meanwhile Kerfoot has been doing well in Toronto.
Like if anything Kadri may not even be on the Avalanche next year as he could be playing himself into a huge deal that Colorado cant afford. While Kerfoot will probs still be a Leaf.
Will need to wait and see but rn nobody has gained or lost anything.

I'd say we need to wait until after the playoffs, and after FA to fully judge this trade. Right now we don't know whether Kadri will continue this and the avs will go far in the playoffs, or if Kerfoot will, or if neither will (or both will), and we don't know if either will be on their teams by next season.
As of right now, Colorado has the edge due to Kadri's performance though.
