Do you think TOR would be looking at Barrie since he's available? Avs are looking to improve secundary scoring and they need a good 2C. Kadri with that contract and age won't hurt the development of Newhook in a couple of years since he can play 3C as well. Might be a win-win trade

It is obvious that the Leafs can't be good. as they were last year. But. the trade (and Marleau's) get the Leaf cap compliant for this year and the chance to make a patch work defence. But the Leafs now have more flexibility in 2019/20 with Zaitsev gone, and Muzzin expiring contract. Then the Leafs are expecting Liljegren and Sandin to be NHL ready. After Marner is signed...the Leafs have about 6m with three roster spots remain to be filled. Cap compliant. And really isn't getting cap compliant more important than winning?
