Description

This is part of an ongoing exercise to narrow down who could and who could not make a realistic offer sheet for one of the top RFA's. In this case Mitch Marner of my Toronto Maple Leafs.

Okay so they after signing McAvoy, Carlo and Heinan they are 7million over the cap......so the Bruins are obviously out unless they somehow get rid of Backes and decide not to sign Heinan or Carlo (not happening).

I say out.

cause the compensation is 4 unprotected 1st round picks, plus if Marner signs a 5 year deal then he, Matthews and Nylander all become UFA's in the same season which would be a version of GM hell

To be fair, if this crazy idea becomes reality, it would make more sense that Marner is moved for McAvoy straight up. However I don't think that makes any sense.

WOW.......thats a lot of replies to what is a look to see who can make an offer........yes, it puts them 8 million over......Thats why it isn't going to happen.

Heinen getting more than Carlo? That makes no sense at all. If Boston wanted to they could name it work (they wont, but they could). McAvoy is looking for a bridge deal, so that'll drop his AAV down. Backes becomes tackle after July 1st and you could move ott a guy like Miller and save another $2.5 million. Again Boston could, but they won't.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Trading Krejci would make this possible. They could easily move MIller, Halak, Krug, Moore and Even Rask to clear space.

I am not saying they would or should, but just about any team could make it work if they really wanted to.

Franchise Dmen have more value than Franchise wingers. IMO. Bruins would never do this.

I agree McAvoy is very important to Boston's future on the back end with Carlo and Vaak
