Sharks and Pavelski haven’t come to an agreement because of term. 2 years won’t get it done with Pavs.

maybe if you move those picks to 2021, its alright. i doubt the habs trade any of their picks for 2020, cause the drafts in mtl, unless they get those picks back some other way

I think Point gets more then 8 on a 5 year deal.... all the RFAs are waiting for Marner to set the market with the assumption he is going to get PAID and if he does Point will ask for the same value (Same goes for many of the other RFAs).

The market prediction for a Point's 5 years extension was around 8.2M AAV with a 83M salary cap (predictions by evolving hockey https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15E1qqh3OfHvvhbv_pICfKT7VR1jJEVhWQOyKviWLN54/edit?usp=sharing ) but with the salary cap being set to 81.5M, he'll be around 8M

I'd be okay with a 2021 2nd rounder + 2020 3rd rounder

Salary cap and space has made this year very interesting. TB was lucky to get a first for Miller. I think if we get a second for Tyler or Gourde we should be happy with that.

Mtl as no interest on Gourde after drafting Caufield (another small player)

How about we don't use the best winger we have not named Kucherov as a cap dump so that we can take on expensive contracts that don't benefit us?

To clarify, I like the idea of signing Pavelski if he agrees (though I think it's unlikely). It has to be for a one-year deal though; the cap doesn't work otherwise without making a ton of stupid moves and icing an AHL-tier bottom six.

But we have Cal Foote and Dominik Masin potentially ready to see NHL time, and six more than capable defensemen if they're not quite ready (Hedman-Sergachev, McDonagh-Cernak, Coburn-Rutta is an extremely solid defensive core). Not to mention that we could probably re-sign Stralman or Girardi at the price we're paying for TJ Brodie, a defenseman who seriously struggled this season except when placed with Giordano (the Norris winner) and has thus earned himself a position on the trading block.

Don't make any trades that involve taking on cap (we don't need another defenseman), keep Gourde (our best forechecking forward and most consistent scoring winner other than Kucherov whose advanced stats reveal him to be playing a major role in the Lightning's success), and then save cap by moving someone like Killorn at the end of the season. Montreal probably rejects this anyway.
