Tight spot any salary takers

Description
Assuming Backes costs a lot more to move it might be worth more to save some money on d this year, and then see whoever can take 1 year of Backes - that money is needed for Debrusk at that point anyways.
I think the option is finding a fit like say Minnesota where a prospect like Bjork (or another guy), a pick or two and the Backes contract could maybe get you Zucker back.

Also shoutout to the management for taking the 12th or whatever best player on the usntdp instead of any of the like 5 projected first rounder forwards that kept slipping. **** me.

After Miller's injury plagued season I think for Boston to dump his contract they will have to pay to get rid of him. Healthy he is still a solid 5/6/7 defenseman but at this point I think it would be better just to keep him.

Moore was injured and broke something in his shoulder and is expected to be out a few months because of it. Might not be ready for the start of the season. I doubt teams will want to take him on without Boston having to pay for it either.

I don’t necessarily think you’re wrong with the unexpectedly low salary cap, but at the same time I think the price to get rid of either is hardly more than a mid round pick. The Backes deal would look more like the Marleau one I think, and the 2020 draft is pretty stacked

I doubt it look at what teams paid for McQuaid. I’d keep
Moore around since he’ll be LTIR and is good for the expansion draft.

Backes’ actual salary is much lower after 7/1 so I bet you wouldn’t have to add a first like Marleau. I think they do a third and a lower level prospect. Rumor yesterday is that they’re trying to solve the backlog at LHD by trading a prospect so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one of them.

Yeah but it's one more year, Marleau is only next season, Backes is two

Lol there is a reason those guys slip. Way to many people fall in love with a rank # than the actual player. A guy could never have played hockey in his life, but if the "experts" ranked him #1OA, fans would drool over him.

Yeah I agree with that sentiment . I don't know the difference between projected forward #14 and #37, but I do have an opinion about what seems like scraping the bottom of the barrel that yielded you McAvoy rather than taking a look inside any of the other barrels that constantly yield solid players as well. I do think the Bruins fetishise US players a bit too much, and I especially think more or less excluding players from the world's 2nd best hockey playing country from your draft board is insane. I know they took a Russian kid this year, and I might be wrong - maybe they have a very thought-out plan and ratings of all the players, while the over- exclusion of Russians and -inclusions of US players might just be random. But if they're doing exactly that it's not any better that doing what you stated imo

Boston would not need to pay for a team to take a 2.5M contract for one season.
