I think that you hit the nail on the head that Nashville will need to retain close to $3M at least in a PK deal. That being said, I imagine that the Leafs would expect much more for MM. What do you think of Subban ($4.5M retained), Fabbro & pick for MM? MM is an elite talent and his best season is yet to come. Subban is a declining defenceman. Just a thought.

Highly doubt Marner is traded and especially not in a Subban deal, but hypothetically if he was, it'd be Subban retained at more than $1M and also at least 1 (if not 2) of Jusse Saros, Eeli Tolvanen, Dante Fabbro, Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, 2020 1st round pick or 2021 1st round pick that would have to come with it. I think the Leafs would aim towards Subban (retained more), Arvidsson, 2020 1st round pick, plus a bit more depending what else Toronto adds in. But this original offer is very far off in value for Toronto to even consider it
