Anisimov for a second rounder is max lulz. Sorry, not a chance.

I personally would be ****ing thrilled to have Pavelski in the Indian Head, he's long been a favorite of mine. Would be an outstanding FA signing.

Well, not at that price, but yeah...

based on the Hayes signing today, and skinner signing last week, free agents are gonna be silly expensive. at least its only 2 years.

You’re right I can see a third rounder being more appropriate for Anisimov and I thought 2 years @ $8 million is good for Pavelski who is turning 35 next month last thing Chicago needs is a Marleau on their team

If Hayes is making 7, Pavelski is a steal at 8mil. Dude scored nearly 40 goals last year, and hasn't dipped below 60 points in a full season in like a decade. He's worth at least 8, maybe more if he's only getting two years.

Inflation in contracts has definitely become a trend I can’t fathom how Hayes has a better deal than Pastrnak I wonder if players are doing this on purpose so the league is forced to raise the salary cap exponentially which would work out in the players favor

Pavs is smart. He is going to want this contract to be long enough to be his final contract. That's why I say its 3 years. He would be willing to take a 7mil AAV if it ensures him that 3rd year.

I'm gearing up towards a future lockout. the league cant sustain with guys like Hayes making more than Pasta like you said. Imagine in the next CBA the league adds an "opt out" option similar to the NBA. would be insane. it won't happen obviously but that would be a fun thought.

3 years $21 million for Pavelski AAV $7 million is a steal for Pavelski I can’t imagine San Jose being against resigning him for that deal

If we do end up signing Pavelski, I’d preferably sign him for one year, doubt he would want that though. But that would ideal since then we would have plenty of money to sign DeBrincat and Strome next year.

My money is also on a lockout a lot of teams are heading towards cap hell and the league will reach a point where it’s best talent won’t be making money because of bad cap management I would love to see every team in the league get a compliance buyout where they can take any contract they want off their books and give them more cap space I would rather have this system even if it isn’t annual than a cap that may or may not go up every season

Only problem here is you are a few million short of resigning Strome and Cat and fielding a 23 man roster in 2020.

I'm sure SJ would love to match or beat that offer, but they dont have the cap room to do it.

The ideal is that Alex and Dylan get matching bridge contracts for 2 or 3 years in the $6 or $7 million range. Wait till that Seabrook contract disappears lol but too hard to tell if this will happen since players wanna get paid big and they have every right

Read an article that said under current cba if player salaries is more than 50% of revenue it goes into escrow. Do you know how that works? This seems to be the #1 issue for players.

I agree with you and the others, he is definitely worth the 8 and a longer contract. It just wouldn't be a good thing for the Hawks with Cat & Strome's contracts coming up. Raises a good point though, can you give him the 7x3 to make him happy, and find a way to fire Anisimov out of a cannon, control your bonus situations, and maybe even think of buying out Seabrook to make it work?

I have long said that Seabs, despite his dumbass anchor contract, deserves to retire a Hawk. He earned it. If we're talking Pavelski for a few years, suddenly I'm a lot less nostalgic about that game 7 OT shot over Jimmy Howard's glove...

Free agency really is ****ing insanity. The whole derby style free for all is just going to get worse now, with Matt Duchene about to strut into all his meetings with a gilded ****ing suit, playing Vince McMahon's "money" entrance theme.

A percentage of every player’s earnings is set aside every season and at the end if hockey related revenues don’t meet projections then the league keeps the difference and players lose that money.

Yes and revenues are affected by a lot of things like the value of the canadian dollar and it’s a big factor in whether the salary cap is going to go up or not I’m no expert in this but I from what I’ve read guys like Toews are losing 10% of what they’re making because they’ve had to make up the difference

Yup. That’s exactly how that works. Most people don’t realize that. So players on low earning teams like Arizona and Carolina suffer the most

Depends on San Jose being able to find that money to be very honest, and that might be a stretch with the Karlsson contract. I don't think we've looked under all the couch cushions yet....
