If that's the worst case then we gotta package 15 + 23 for a Top6 guy. But that bottom 6 scares me more than the goaltending...

MTL declines

in his prime fresh off a cup win he was only worth a B- Winger a B- D and a journeyman Goalie all under 25 .
since going to NYR he's accomplished very little except helping them miss 2 playoffs and get eliminated swiftly in two 2nd round playoff appearances
over 26 playoff games with NYI he has 2 goals , 8 assists for 10 points . (in 54 games with SC ring he had 2 goals , 8 assists for 10 points. )

he's not getting better with age and given he never in his career warranted a 2nd pick in a trade i doubt he lands a top 15 first round pick plus a 2nd rounder and a 4th .

MTL would be better off taking Hickey as atleast he's getting paid what he's worth

right because CHI wasn't in cap hell when they were forced tot raded leddy or anything. you're comparing two situations that have absolutely no comparison. 40 point puck moving D men, cost a premium in this league. especially when they have 3 yrs on their deal at an average, some would say team friendly, AAV. it amazes me though how dedicated MTL fans are to ignoring positional value, thinking they're gonna get a top 4 puck moving D man for a soda machine and lazy boy chair. maybe MTL fans are just as dumb as TOR fans. such a shame

Leddy is worth a first and fourth, assuming the first is mid-range. Three picks is a little much.

Leddy barely played that year and Chicago was in literal cap hell. They had no choice.

I can't see Leddy getting more than a swap of first-rounders and Montreal's third, but maybe Lou will get lucky.

so ?

you're telling me that of all the other moves they made from Byfluglien and Ladd up to Panarin and Saad had no return because of the same issues ?

or are you just trying to ignore Context to argue conjecture ?

finally some reason

now this kinda makes sense MTL trading down 8 spots to get Leddy
given Lavoie , Suzuki and Heinola have all slipped into the late 1st round we still get the players we want .

NYI with 15 would have their pick between RD , LD or Centers as well as Spencer Knight the 1st rounds only goalie prospect .

Vatanen got Henrique/Blandisi/3rd
A legit 2C, young forward, and a 3rd rounder

Leddy is controllable and pretty consistently puts up 40 points (offense took a hit this year due to trotz’s system), He’s going to cost atleast a first rounder, probably more

Hamonic who was worse offensively better defensively not as fast and had 3 yrs on his deal, 1st and 2nds
Shattenkirk as a 3 monthrental, who is essentially the right handed version of leddy but way slower, 1st a 2nd a C+ prospect and a 4th liner
Hamilton w no contract. better shot, not nearly as good at advancing the puck, a 1st and 2 2nds
Yandle as 3 month and 1 yr rental landed what was at the time a highly touted prospect in Duclair, a third pairing D a 1st and a 2nd round pick

but ya you're "real hockey fan" who talks in "facts" lmao

Vatanen again was a top guy in ANA

Leddy was a 6th/6th guy in CHI playing just ahead of Brookbank in minutes
Leddy during some horrible years that motivated John Tavares to leaves as a UFA like Okoposo , Nielsen and many UFA's in that stretch .

if history is any indication after a playoff performance in NYI comes 2 missed playoffs and pretending Leddy's an All Star who can fix it hahahaha

this reminds me of how delusional your fanbase was of De Hann's return hahahaha

Vatanen was a 3/4 in ANA easily behind Fowler and Lindholm. Leddy was the #1 until this season but he’s still NYI’s 3/4 (probably 3). Instead of being a dick head how about you do some research before you say something stupid

not true

Leddy played the fewest minutes per game of any regular defenseman on CHI in 13/14. so yes he barely played and at the time had no established history as a top 4 D

also CHI needed to make move as shown in this article. any real hockey fan would remember the Hawks cap situation back then

if you were offering a 25 year old leddy playing 6 years of 22 minutes on ice consistently then sure

Hamonic was at the point of the trade playing just under 24 minutes consistent and even though he wasnt putting up 40 points so some of you Bettman era fans could notice them that doesnt mean he's less of a player just that you're to dumb to understand a Defensman play Defense has value

when you're to old dumb and stubborn to acknowledge the league has shifted in favor of offensive puck moving defensemen, rather than the traditional architype of big slow Defensive Dmen. said how the old become senile it really is
