Zaitsev’s metrics have gotten worse every year he has played and his offense has become almost nonexistent. He has a terrible contract both in term and AAV left. He generates no offense and has trouble existing the zone. He’s a #5 dman being paid like a 2/3 one. Terrible trade.

Think Errorsson only worse.

Technically not far from the ask. Honestly, if the ask is met I doubt there is all that much nitpicking the prospect in question. Regula, Kotkansalo, etc. Likely doesn't matter. Obviously not a guy like Veleno...just a prospect with any NHL upside.

2/3rds of our current defensive roster is going to turn over after this year. Dude is either a bust or he's a diamond in the rough in need of a change of scenery. Honestly our current D is so bad he may slot in as a #3 guy in right now, especially if Green isn't healthy

Hell no, Why would a rebuilding team like Detroit want Zaitsev? That contract is horrendous 5 x $4.5M If Toronto wants to unload him to Detroit they need to add a pretty good sweetener to the deal. That contract is brutal. Yzerman had better stay away.

Daley is up this year, Ericsson is up this year and so is Green. Alot of money to shop for FA defenseman who is better and better cost effective.

He is not a diamond in the rough but a player who has declined the last 2 years. No thanks.

I'm agreeing his contact isn't great. But have you seen the money teams are throwing around this off season? Its insanity.
