As a Ranger fan I have fond memories of Hagelin, but that contract has me wondering if you are his agent.

That DET trade is eeeeeky.... also Hagelin is worth 2m at most. MOJO scares me because of his injuries and no way EDM lets Chiasson walk for 2m. JJ + 3rd doesnt get back Psysk + 3rd..

hahaha you made my day with that. And no, I'm not. LOL. Yeah, I mean 4 million has been outrageous when it was signed, then Pens got him and paid him that much for the time being. I wonder if he is really going to sign for less than 3M per and there is some value in his blazing speed and defensive prowess. I could live with 3 M AAV even though I will surely miss 5-10 goals for that price tag.

is he really? Maybe. But don't forget Athanasiou hasn't been all that consistent yet and that Maatta comes in with the experience of a two time Stanley Cup champion on defense who will be a lock in Detroits top 4 as it stands today. So that's got to have some value. Especially on a Detroit team that doesn't have a lot of people aboard anymore who know what it takes to win. I could also see the Pens add a little on top to sweeten the deal here, because I think someone with the speed and skill that Athanasiou possesses should be a prime target for GMJR.

Johansson is really just a favourite of mine and looking at the free agent wingmen available... the LW and RW sections are reaaaallyyy thin this summer. There are Eberle and Anders Lee who are an option. Stylistically though I would definitely prefer Mojo over the both of them. As for Edmonton, I wonder about there leverage in any negotiation this summer. If you were chiasson, would you take more money on a team that looks destined to fail again and again because of the contracts they have or would you take a discount for a window of opportunity elsewhere at Chiassons point in his career? JJ to Cats is more a prayer than anything else. Just get the damn hell rid of his contract any way possible. And Florida might be looking for some experience on the blue line, who knows. Thought about buying him out but at least looking into trading him away seems the way to go for me. Ring the Kings and Habs too, for heaven's sake. They might take on another old fart.

He is for two reasons. He is trending up as a center that is coming off a 30 goal season and two Wings have cap space a plenty and can sign avet with experience for a 1 or 2 year period so they can bring along some younger defensemen, like Hronek, Chowlowski, McIssac and Lindstrom and we can keep AA. There is no need to move a player and open a hole and cause another hole. With cap space we can keep ome hole closed and patch another until it can be replaced with a younger and cheaper option.

He has also spent 1/3 of his career on IR. Why did he only play one playoff game and was a healthy scratch the other 5 games. Even Jack Johnson played in 5 games. Look at AA stats and his ice time. He has put up more points each season and compare that to his ice time. Then you'll see his points go up with with more ice time. Will he score 30 goals this season? Only time will tell. I like to think so but just my opinion. But you can't really say he has been inconsistent when point totals have gone up each season.

Now last season AA did score 30 goals. During the playoffs Maatta was basically Pittsburgh's 7th defenseman. How is that close?

Plus when talking to Cheveldayoff about Trouba Yzerman said Hronek and the big 3 were off limits. The big 3 Larkin, AA and Mantha. So if Yzerman won't trade AA for Trouba I can't see him trading him for Maatta.
