Big JT fan but signing him threw the team out of sync and made the contracts too top heavy.

Trade JT, sign Karlsson and Myers. Add strong two way centers to replace JT and Guathier. Add grit to bottom 6 wingers.

Obviously unrealistic but my point is that I’d rather have an elite d core like that with Marner and Matthews leading your forwards, than have 33+ million for your top 3 forwards (34 91 16) and have no room for competent d. They are ridiculously top heavy
