Description

WPG fans want a king's ransom for Trouba, but are really only going to get futures since he'll need a new contract. GMs around the league know this, plus he has only shown 1 great season with a lot of caveats to his numbers that are due for a regression. DET will pony up futures, they'll offer the best deal.

TBL needs dmen for 5/6 and cap space. DET kills 2 birds with 1 stone and helps them out, for a return of a 2020 2nd rounder and a middle 6 C prospect.

No Ericsson buyout, he'll ride the pine or be buried. Could see him moved for depth during the season, and DET would eat some contract just to recoup a late round pick.

DET has a choice of Cozens or Zegras at 6, and take Zegras. They send him to the OHL instead of college (Missasauga holds his rights).

WPG is gonna get more for Trouba. WPG will give the green light for teams to discuss with Trouba before any trade is made, and there are more than one team interested. I'm saying that as a wingsfan.

Even as a red wings fan I know that’s not enough. A really good young defenseman for a further along prospect, a prospect that has been sputtering this year, and two second.
