I dont think Zaitsev is that much of a cap dump as people are saying. If used correctly, he is a good player as we saw in his rookie seaspn. Babcock kind of messed him up by turning him into a PK'er and took him off the PP. Lou also loves Zaitsev, not to mention but he did sign him to this contract.

I dont buy the narrative of Marleau being purely a cap dump. He is a good, seasoned vet who provides stability and leadership to a young team like the Yotes. I'm not sure who'd I get from Arizona but one year, 6.25 cap hit isn't as bad as it seems, especially considering he gets paid less in actual dollars. For Arizona, this is about teaching guys like Hayton, Keller, Galchenyuk, etc and leading them.
