Description
Edmonton Trade:
The Oilers send off Lucic's bad contract (50% salary retained) and their 1st round pick. They get a goal scorer in Tofolli coming back. LA gets a 1st round pick they need, and immediately buyout lucic, sharing the buy out burden with Edmonton. I think both teams win here. Remember, Lucic is still signed for another 4 YEARS.

Toronto Trade:
The Leafs get rid of Marleau's 6.25 contract to LA and get back Dion Phaneuf at a 3 million cap hit. Thats a cap gain of 3.25 million for next season. Toronto gets the cap space they need, LA gets rid of Phaneuf's 2nd year and receive a 4th round draft pick in the up coming draft. Another trade that seems like a win-win.

What are your thoughts? Is this realistic at all? Any adjustments?

Marleau would block the deal with his full NMC. LA is a 6 hour drive from his 2nd home in SJ and he has a wife and 4 school aged kids that are settled in Toronto.

Why would he agree to be 1000's of miles away from family or pull his school aged kids away from friends again and move just after they settled? That's why players want these NMC's.

Okay but what if Marleau doesn't block?

His son is a huge kings fan. Its an org with people he is familiar with (TM and Robe Blake). Its a 1 1/2 hour flight to SJ. This thread is looking at it from an asset point of view. I am fully aware Marleau could say no. I just want to know what the trade can be if he says yes.

Okay in make belief land: Toronto would want Jack Campbell because they need a backup goalie which means Kings have to take Sparks back.
Beyond that the Leafs are also going to want to move Zaitsev per his request so he could be part of it and want d-men back. LA doesn't have the d-men at the right price Toronto needs so then you're talking salary retention's. But I highly doubt Phaneuf wants anything to do with the Toronto media as they ate him alive the first time and he's still married to his actress wife that wants to be in LA right (he's got a partial NTC so he can probably block that deal too). Would LA be willing to trade Alec Martinez and retain 1.5M in salary? that plus Campbell would probably do it.

You could technicially only retain 1.75M on the Phaneuf trade. Can't go past the 50% total retention.
